My 1997 crown victoria's idle is too low and it needs to be adjusted. i was wondering how to do that.

Use vinegar to unfreeze

will not idle in cold weather till it is warmed up

have a 97 crown vic,
in warm weather it idles fine and run fine
now that its cold I have to hold at high idle to have warm up
for about 10 mins.
if I just start it the engine will die with out me holding on foot on the gas

connect the boy racer can to the low pressure port ,start engine and put the AC on and it will **** the gas in

look on top of the throttle body for the idle adjusting screw. take a phillips screwdriver and SLOWLY turn it, you should here the engine respond immediately. as long as the engine doesn't stall when it idles in park, i wouldn't mess with it, but if it sounds like it might croak any second, i'd adjust it

Attempt to change all of the spark plug wiring and spark plugs. Then start the vehicle.

You need a new alternator. Install a rebuild or get a used one from a wrecker for cheaper. It won't be worth the headaches of trying to replace brushes as that might not even solve your problem.

You need a new multi function switch IE wipers high/low beam headlights, Your next clue will be no low beam headlights when needed

if you have unit i think you have look for 2 holes 1/8 inch in dia on both sides take a coat hanger and cut 2 12 inch lengths and bend into semi circles and insert into holes firmly and it will slide out if not have a friend pull on the radio while you push on your new ford radio tools

try the following, if that doesn't correct it u may need to replace the air bypass valve.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
