Some type of matience have the code pulled to see what the vehicle is saying needs to be done sensors are telling the car it needs matience done to it once the matience is done light will go off until next time it needs something else
Maintenance Required light comes on every 5000 miles after it is reset. THIS IS NOT THE CHECK ENGINE LAMP!!!
To reset this light turn the key to the RUN position but do not crank the car. Make sure ur odometer is showing on the cluster, not Trip A or Trip B. Turn the key off. Press and hold the trip reset button and turn the key back to the RUN position. The ODOMETER WILL have - - - - - - showing and the dashes will disappear one at a time. Once they are all gone 000000 will appear. At this time release the trip reset and the milage will reappear and the illuminated lamp will turn off.

The maint req'd light goes on when your vehicle is due for an oil change. If you've recently changed your oil - sometimes your mechanic won't reset the built in tracking settings for when you are due for another oil change. Here's how you can reset it.
Turn ignition to "ACC" and press the odometer button until the display reads actual mileage (not Trip A or B).
Turn ignition off.
Hold the same button down that you used in step 1.
While holding the button, turn ignition to 'ON'.
The 'Maint Reqd' light should blink and go out.
