My daughter complains her neon, that has about 37,000 miles, has problems occasionally not starting. It turns over fine but no ignition. After several attempts it will finally start. It may go a few weeks and start fine. Battery is OK. I have swapped the fuel pump relay. The fuel pump seems to be fine, because we can here it run and shut off before starting. The dealer says the ignition pack is OK.

Dodge master is right...the cam (and possibly crank) sensor can prevent a vehicle from starting...if the wiring is loose or the sensor is defective it could cause those problems
I had the same problem. I fixed it by changing my oil to Manufacturer's Choice at Jiffy Lube. Check the transmission also, the parking brake is your best friend on the neon. My friend and I both own 2005 Dodge Neon SXTs, and we've learned they are delicate cars. She never used her parking brake, had a similar problem and after a few months her car wound up breaking down. But try changing the oil.
Sounds like the shaft from your ignition switch is worn or broken and its not fully engaging the switch on the left side. mine broke and i had no key at all i had to pull it all apart and use a screw driver to start the car. while having the transponder key in the ignition like normal. i bet thats your problem. use a phillis screw driver to take the two screws out of the bottom of the plastic housing then. two torx bit screws on top take off the blinker assembly, then there should be a black switch assembly on the left side of the column with a shaft in it. i has one torx bit screw holding it on take that off use a flat screw driver to start the car and see if that does it. if its broken.

Nikki is the engine light on, are there any codes, have you had a tune up or any other work done lately.when you say it won't start when warm(do you mean engine will not turn over, or does engine turn and refuses to fire.
If I had to guess failing fuel pump, they tend not to build fuel pressure when ran a while(warmed up) and when left to cool build somewhat better pressure.

Had same problem with my 05 neon....crank sensor is not working properly.....go to parts store, you can get one with lifetime warranty for bout $20-$30....driver side of block, just remove battery, it is not hard to remove or install....had to change mine a couple times then haven't had any probs for couple years now....good luck..
The front struts for a 2005 Dodge Neon are $66.99 each from Autozone. The part number is G55892 and they show as a stock item.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Programmateur De Calculateur
you may be right, try a spare key, that will elimanate the key chip, you will need a scan tool to diagnose this problem, also with key in crank position is there power at starter, the scan tool can tell yuo if computer is reading key chip signal and if signal if right and also you can see if starter is receiving start signal, good luck.
check to see if your tentioner spring loaded pulley is operating properly.
i.e. you can move it with hand pressure it can be to hard to move or too easy.
both can cause this problem. loosen or tighten the retainer bolt.
the cam sensor definitly can cause the problem. pull the trouble code and make sure the check engine light is for the cam sensor. if so, replace it and retest
you have to get scanned for fault codes..possible camshaft sensor if you have starting issues..if car is working fine, could be an evap leak..let me know
