My 1994 Honda Civic SI has an erratic idle. It stays at 3000-3500rpm when started cold till it warms up then ...
Another place to look is your IAC, or Idle air control valve. It is bolted to the back of the intake manifold, and can be removed and cleaned. It is usually the cause of most Honda Idle problems.
Just check the transmission fluid-if low you have to add until it is full-do not overfill though. Better to have it just a bit low than overfilling it.
In park, can you accelerate to 2500-3000 rpm, and hold steady with no shaking or indications of a miss? If it runs good in park or neutral, then you probably have transmission problems. Frankly, it is pretty rare for a torque converter to develop a problem. Check your fluid, or try changing the fluid if it is dark or dirty looking.
Your timming belt has jumped a tooth.Remove the covers and check that all teeth are ok.Then tighten or change the timming belt.I would fit a new timming belt.Has it is costly when they fail.Good luck.pippall.
hi there, it could be several different things try these -check the idol air control valve first. try taking off with a\c going and with the a\c off and see if there a differance, if there is, i'd definatly have it checked or replaced. another idea is have the catalitic converter checked, if its clogged you would have bad acceleration, wont idol right, you can check yourself with a vaccum gauge, just connect it to the service port or where the pcv valve connects to the intake and crank up the car and watch the gauge, when you accelerate the vaccum will decrease and let off the accelerator, then watch the guage if it comes back to vaccum very quickly your catalitic converter is good, and if comes back slowly than you have a problem, its clogged
