A knock sensor is threaded into the engine block and is supposed to sense when the engine starts to ping or spark knock and reduces the ignition timing accordingly. The knock sensor is located on the side of the engine.

  • Turn the ignition OFF.
  • Raise the vehicle.
  • Disconnect the knock sensor harness connector.
  • Remove the knock sensor attachment bolt and the knock sensor.

  • Important: The larger metal contact area of the knock sensor MUST be toward the engine block. DTC P0327 may result if the sensor is installed backwards.

  • Install the knock sensor and attachment bolt with the larger metal contact area toward the engine block.

  • Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

    How to knock sensor location

you didn't state specific engine so here is a run down of locations
on a 4 cylinder engine there are 2 knock sensors located on the inlet side of the block adjacent to no 1 and 4 cylinders ( cross way motor)
on a v6 engine( crossway engine) they are in the valley of the block ( probably under the inlet manifold system) at 2 and 5 cylinder positions
on a v8 they will be located adjacent to 4 cylinder and between 6 and 8 cylinder on one side and adjacent to 3 cylinder and between 5 and 7 cylinder on the other side
