Could be incorrect idle/timing settings, figure 700 rpm typical hot curb idle, and base timing should be 7-10 btdc for 2 bbl and 16-18 btdc for the squad.
If not that or bad fuel pump, have computer tested for vacuum advance, replace if necessary. Otherwise, the little "sock" on the fuel tank sender tube could be plugged.
1985?? more like the carb idle jets need cleaning
Begin by changing the fuel filter. This may be the only problem. If it still stalls after that put a bottle of a fuel additive called seafoam into the tank. This will clear up any water in the tank, clean the fuel injectors, and on and on. Great stuff. IF after all that you are still having problems, you may need a new fuel pump. The most common reason fuel pumps fail (besides age and wear) is a plugged or restricted fuel filter. The fuel pump is forced to work harder in order to keep the fuel pressure within specification. To troubleshoot a fuel pump, you must first understand the types of pumps and how they work.

I WOULD CHECK THE FUEL PUMP RELAY UNDER THE HOOD BEFORE THROWING A PUMP IN IT!
SOURCE: have a 01 Tahoe, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel
Pull the rubber inlet hose off at the throttle body and check for carbon build up around edge of throttle plate.USE a old toothbrush and some spray throttle body cleaner that can be purchased at autozone or othertype of parts house. Hold plate open spray and scrub with brush front, back and edges also make sure the idle air bleed hole on plate is open.
SOURCE: Daewoo Lanos, 1998, no problems till now. Car
did u check the camshaft and crankshaft sensor. most likely crankshaft sensor causes stalling.
SOURCE: I just changed my fuel pump but engine keeps stalling?
take the gas filter off, and blow through it, if it feels restricted, replace it.
