My 12 volt cigarrete lighter does not work need to find the fuse box

hi,

there must have been a weak connection somewhere in the line.
use a volt meter to trace from the lighter to the fuse box.
I have also seen the wire connection go bad during a short in the back of the fuse box itself where the wire goes in.
follow the 12 volts and you will find your problem.

check the fuse in the box usually inside the car under the dash. there should be a list on the cover showing you where the lighter fuse is. check it to see if it is blown.

The fuse panel on 2002 VW Beetle Turbo is located behind a plastic cover on the driver's side end panel of the dashboard, door open. The fuse no.# 1 - 10A (red colour) is for cigarrete lighter. See pictures below:

did you check all the fuses, some lighters are labeled under auxilary power,

fuse #2 E7 D8 goes only at cigarrete lighter and to data link connector, remove the socket at the rear of cigarrete lighter and install fuse, change the cigarrete lighter when it is shorted or there will be a small piece of metal left inside the whole,

Check the fuse, # 25 in the fuse box.
If this is ok then check there is 12 volt to the middle of the lighter holder with the ignition on.
Check that the element on the lighter it's self is ok and not broken.

To be on the safe side check them all...Because sometimes they tie in more than one circuit within one fuse...like say for instance on some vehicles, the clock on the dashboard is tied into the cig. lighter..but the fuse panel wont say that...And make sure you check both sides of the fuses..you may have power and no ground, or vice versa..and that depends on what kind of test light you have...

it wil be located in the fuse box, the fuses should be listed on the box or inside the box and again in your owners manual. If you can not locate this way you will need to pull each fuse till you find the burnt fuse replacing with the same amperage fuse. Cigarette lighters can and do go bad, if you find no burnt fuses the lighter can be bad. This can be checked with any 12 volt plug accessory. Good luck.

12 volts - run the wire from the battery, and put a fuse inline between battery and lighter.
