The wheel on the front passenger side of my Lincoln occassionally locks up for a few brief seconds, usually when I first start driving off. I've already replaced the brake pads and calipers but it's still locking up. The rotor looks like it's in good condition but I haven't replaced it yet. What else could be wrong?

new rotors and new brake pads ...
...full job would include loaded calipers with all new hardware ..if you pay attention to disassembly you will not need a service manual necessarly..all is logical and straightforward...but you are dealing with safety so be sure you are good before taking a drive ...good luck

Have someone push & release pedal while at wheel with problem. See if it takes a while or slow to release. If yes, have wrench ready on bleeder screw, and try again, if it sticks/holds, crack bleeder screw, if it releases, I'd replace hose.

The caliper can be fixed, but replacement may be more advantageous. Let's you sleep good at night, knowing this same problem won't reoccur.

The piston goes in but the other side of the bracket has sliding pins that are probably frozen in place. Get rebuilt, loaded calipers with the brackets attached and new pads already in place for about $110 each side and the repair is easier. Just did it.

The abs sensor may have been damaged when the repair was done.

Do you mean when you first use the car for the day, or any time you start away form a stop? Only while hot? Only when cold? More details would be helpful.
Hi, If the Parking Brake is sticking and it's attached to the front wheels (usually on rear wheels, in my experience), that could cause it too. Do you set the parking brake every time you leave the car? If you can park it on flat ground, and just leave it in Park, please try that and see if it's still sticking. Also, the wheel bearing or CV axle (if this is a newer front wheel drive Conti.) could be suspect as well. Td
