Recheck your brake switch connections. The cruise control as we both kow is shut off when the brake is tapped or depressed. If the wires are connected properly there is the p;ossibility that the brak light switch is out of adjustment. Walk behind the car an see if the brake lights are always on. If they are always on move the plunger further away from the brake pedal actuation arm by adjusting the lock nuts on the plunger stem so that the stem retracts away from the pedal arm.

1998 montero sport. Tail lights and dash lights do not work. Brake lights work, and dash lights flash with right turn signal. What is going on?

Your tail lights and brake lights are on a separate electrical circuit mainly because your brake lights need to be activated by the brake switch in your brake petal. Check the voltage regulation circuit in your dash light circuit to see what is faulty.

The cruise control stopped working today. I just had the brake switch replaced. Does this have anything to do with it and what do I do to repair it?

Yes,

But, there are usually 2 brake switches in the Cruise circuit.

The Brake Pedal switch - is mounted on the pedal and de-activates the Cruise function (as well as operates the brake lights).
The Brake Pressure switch - is mounted to the brake servo/cylinder in the engine bay and acts as a secondary switch to de-activate the cruise function.

Have an assistant check the operation of your brake lights, while you depress the brake pedal. If brake lights do not work, then the Brake Pedal Switch will either need adjusting or the connector to the switch is loose. If all brake lights are functioning, then arrange for someone to check that the brake pedal switch is connecting to the Cruise circuit.

The Brake Pressure Switch in the engine bay - check the connector is pressed in and secure. You should also have the pressure switch resistance checked to ensure it is within factory spec. If not, then replace the brake pressure switch.

Hope this help........

The cruise control on my 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XS is not working after I took my car in for a complete interior / exterior detailing. What do you suggest I check? It has worked beautifully since...

well the first thing is to check all your fuses, then i would take a look under the hood for any broken or disconnected vacuum lines, this is what i would check first, hope this is helpful.

Brake lights wont work

Check the brake light switch which is located above the foot pedals on a metal bracket.
