Suddenly my 1997 town & country van starts dinging (the same ding when the fuel is low) 3 to 6 times when I make a right turn or go up the incline driveway at work. What could be going on? Also, my battery died. Coincidence? or is the ding trying to tell me something is wrong with the car. If so, what could it be? Thank you so much for this free service.

SOURCE: where is the body control module located on a 1997 town & country

It is located on the back side of the underdash fuse box (junction block). You remove the lower steering column cover and knee blocker reinforcement. Then remove two plugs from the bottom of the BCM.
Remove the bolts holding the junction block to dash panel mounting bracket. Remove the junction block from the bracket. Remove screws holding the BCM to the junction block. Slide the BCM downward to disengage guide studs on jb from channels on BCM mounting bracket

SOURCE: What does a p1784 code on a 1997 chrlyster town

The code is about the switch that monitors the hydraulic pressure for operating the low/reverse clutch of the transmission. That clutch is called into play for all forward gears as well as reverse, so it seems reasonable if that clutch were not working that the car wouldn't move in any gear. I would begin by making sure that there is sufficient trans fluid by inspecting its dipstick. If needed only use ATF +4 but don't overfill it. Also, just on a chance, take a look underneath to see if you see any motion of either the left or right half axles (or one moving, but one not) which would be another reason for no motion due to a drive shaft disconnection or some such anomaly. Other than that, your problem could be with the Low/Reverse solenoid switch in the solenoid pack portion of the transmission (the box on the driver's side of the trans) being stuck. That can be repaired without removing and rebuilding the transmission so let us hope that may be the cause. I would have the car towed to a good independent trans shop that has a reputation for knowing how to service the Chrysler electronic transmission

SOURCE: CHRYSLER town and country mini van turn signal/flasher

I have a 2005 Chrysler T&C. The turn signal would not work at all or activate incorrect side. The switch is easy to remove as described by dukecityman.

Once the switch is of, it has four screws holding it together.I took this apart to find that there was a circuit-board which was contaminated with dirt. wiped it of, put it back together, working fine.

If you take it apart use caution. there are parts on the "top" which will fall out. ( they go right back in) The circuit-board is on the "bottom" half. You really only need to take this part off. (less moving parts)

Your going to replace it anyway, whats the harm?

Why does my oil light keep coming on and dinging?

You need to take your van to a repair shop or garage and get the oil pressure checked with a mechanical guage. It sounds like your oil pump could be going bad. This could cost you an engine if you aren't careful.

Oil light comes on and is dinging.

The oil light has nothing to do will oil level, but rather oil PRESSURE. If the engine oil is full and there is no rattling or banging noises in the engine, chances are the oil pressure sending unit is bad. If noises accompany the light, then shut down the engine and troubleshooting the engines internal lubrication system.

I have a 1997 dodge caravan and the gas gauge needle frequently drifts quickly towards empty, I get the little alarm bell for low fuel, and then the system recovers quickly. I assume it is a faulty fuel...

YES..... IT'S NOT EASY TO FIX. IF I REMEMBER RIGHT THE TANK NEEDS TO COME OUT, SOME OF THESE PARTS CAN BE $$$ I FOUND THE BEST WAY TO AVOID FUEL PUMP AND SENDING UNIT ISSUES IS TO TRY TO KEEP THE TANK AT LEAST 1/3 FULL OR MORE, THE PUMP IS GAS COOLED (YEP) AND THE MORE GAS THATS IN THE TANK, THE HAPPIER YOUR PUMP IS. THE GAS SWASHES AROUND IN THE TANK AND IF YOU DRIVE SLOWER, IT'S LESS APT TO DO THE DING DING DING. NOISE... THATS NOT A RACE CAR AND IF YOU DRIVE IT NICE YOU CAN SQUEAK SOME MILES OUT OF HER.. I GOT OVER 500,000 MILES ON A 84 CARAVAN, I SOLD IT TO MY FRIEND AND HE HIT A CITY BUS WITH IT. HE'S OK BUT THE VAN WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SEEN.. ONE OF THE TRICKS TO A LONG LIFE IS TO SHUT THE MOTOR OFF IN GEAR, THEN PUT IT IN PARK. THIS HELPS STOP THE CHANCE OF DIESELING, AKA (DEATH TO TIMING BELT OR CHAIN) STEVE IF I WAS OF HELP LEAVE A REVIEW OR GIVE ME A THUMB OR TWO ..THANKS J THE PUMP WHISPERER IN LONGWOOD FLORIDA

Describe your 1997 Chrysler Town & Country ProblemThe Gas guage goes up & then down and the gas light blinks and an autobal ding sound.won't give a true reading. Is the sending unit...

It sounds like the rheostat on the sending unit is going bad. I would suggest replacing the fuel pump and all at the same time.It will save you from going back in the tank.
