Check the fuse to see if it is blown,be sure to have the head lights on,and the dash dimmer on all the way bright,when checking the fuse,if it is not blown,check the fuse to see if it has voltage on that fuse,if it does not,then replace the head light switch.If the fuse has voltage to it,then either a bad connection at the cluster,or the bulbs are burned out in the cluster.

unhook speedometer cable from transmission and spin cable by hand it should turn smoothly if it des hook end to a low sped drill and see if it holds at a steady speed if it does the the problem is in the plastic speedo gear in the trans if it dos not remove the dash and inspect the connection on the speedo head

choke plate may not be moving how does it run? the heater may be burned test by pulling the wire off the auto choke and put the leads of a volt meter on it on ohms if it reads max oms the heater is ok next stick finger into carb and press the throttle plate down, is it moving freely? if not lube the shaft and adjust it so that it will open easily
