My 2006 lincoln zephyr's front blinkers quit working and the drivers side front parking light stays on after you shut the engine off.I tried all the fuses I was told to check. I am afraid the battery is going to run down front the front light staying on. I tried removing the parking lights fuse until I can figure out the problem and that light still stays on. I don't think a problem like this is covered under my warranty.

Covered under my warranty. Do you have extended warranty ? Regular warranty was up long time ago . You mite check anyway. This is a electronic problem , SJB - smart junction box is a electronic module that controls the lights . Principles of Operation
The smart junction box (SJB) monitors the headlamp switch position by sending multiple voltage reference signals to the headlamp switch. When the headlamp switch is in any given position, that input signal is routed to ground.
When the SJB receives an input from the headlamp switch indicating a request for the parking lamps, the SJB energizes the parking lamp relay, which supplies voltage to the exterior lamps.

Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  1. Visually inspect the following for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical
  • Headlamp switch
  • Smart junction box (SJB) fuse 4 (15A) (parking lamps)
  • SJB
  • Rear lamp assembly
  • Bulb(s)
  • Circuitry

  1. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
NOTE: Make sure the headlamp switch is in the OFF position.
NOTE: Make sure the multifunction switch is in the LOW BEAM position.
  1. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC) and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  1. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool operating manual.
  1. Carry out the diagnostic tool data link test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
    • CAN or ISO circuit fault; all electronic control units no response/not equipped, refer to Section 418-00 .
    • No response/not equipped for SJB, refer to Section 419-10 .
    • System passed, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and carry out the self-test diagnostics for the SJB.
  1. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the Smart Junction Box (SJB) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index.
  1. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, GO to Symptom Chart .
Principles of Operation
The smart junction box (SJB) monitors the multifunction switch position by sending multiple voltage reference signals to the multifunction switch. When the multifunction switch is in the LH or RH TURN positions, or the hazard lamp switch is engaged, that input signal is routed to ground.
When the SJB receives a request for a turn signal or hazard lamps, the SJB supplies voltage to the appropriate turn lamps.

SOURCE: heated and cooled seats quit working. won't work on either driver's or passanger's seats. checked the fuses and relays and they are all ok. what's wrong?

Remove fuses 10 and 11 in the underhood junction box. Leave out for 5 minutes then reinstall. If the seats start working your Zephyrs dual climate control seat module will need replaced.

SOURCE: 2006 lincoln zephyr cd player won't play cds

HI.This will occur when the optical assembly becomes unstable. this ((Whole One Piece)), assembly incorporates the spin/load motor, optics housing /arm, tracking device and tracking rail. This is connected to the loading dock assembly. This 'NO Disc' or CD NOT PLAYABLE, code is the result of a failed or burned out lens. It is possible that you have a dirty lens cap. you can try using a cleaning disk in this case to confirm actual lens failure. if the cleaning doesn't restore normal reading capabilities, this will confirm my diagnosis.

You will need to have the optical assembly replaced in this case. once replaced, your unit will be able to read and track once more.

SOURCE: My 2006 lincoln zephyr's front turn signals quit

check the inside fusebox, at location f20, this is the fuse # location F 20, this fuse operates the dsp module which is the digital signal processing. check that fuse.also check F4. now look under the hood and check these two fuses in that box, fuse 23 (F23) and fuse 19 (F19). hope this helps.

SOURCE: How do I remove a headlight bulb on a 2006 Lincoln

remove 2 10mm bolts attaching top of headlight to the radiator support.

remove plastic clip attachinig headlight to top/front of fender.

remove 5 phillips screws on top of grill.

carefully pull out grill enough to remove 1 10mm bolt attaching headlight to radiator support and use slotted screwdriver or prybar to seperate headlight tab from the bracket that goes under the bumper cover.

with a little effort and wiggling pull out headlight assembly.

2006 Lincoln zephyr driver side door wont latch shut

try pulling the door handle a time or two, perhaps the latching mechanism is stuck in the latched position. sometimes pulling the handle and moving the latch with a screwdriver is needed. if this doesn't work then try lifting up on the door while shutting it, if this works then you need new door hinge bushings or new door hinges

The ashtray door/cover will not stay closed in the dash 06 Zephyr

I found that if you take the ash tray out there is a little hole. shine a light in it and you should be able to see a slide mechanism on it push it over to the side and the door will lock, might want to put a little lube in it and that worked for my 06 zephyr

Driver's side rear blinker light stays on w/headlights on

no year compass stated, so will do 1st year.
USA/ Car?? (we are USA forum so answers default to bingo us)
engine runs ok, all else runs OK> just lamps problems?
Just is very important word in the electric world.
Drivers ok? too. (engine cranks, runs and stays running?) (turns on many meal all that)
gen1 is 2006 to 2016, later is GEN2.
ill pick first years.
seems headlights/binkers (turns sigs) are shorted together or parks.
Park/(aka, tails) may be in the mix.

1: fuses check ok
2: battery fully charged, reads 12.6v key off rested, and 13.3 to 15vdc running,
3: check for wiring damage behind lamps on the effected sides.
and for trailer hitch from H3LL hacks. there? looking is first.
collision damage by other owners, is possible (if 2nd owner you)
now electrics have a chance to perform. good power.
This system is all networked now.. needs to be understood
the first step now is to SCAN it. that's right, what if the communications bus, cant all talking between modules.
those lamps are all run by a computer under the hood
called TIPM , the module insides is called the "electronics module. EM"
it has 4 blinker wires as an output. (not shared a key fact for diagnoses)

you said driver side blinker (left works better)
drivers in UK are on right.
the left side front and rear. my guess , NO not rear)
if true the problem is there, left front blinker.
wire damage there, even the LAMP it self can short, (get new one?)
blinker,
damage at TIPM , can be possible look there yet.
its just a computer and has transistor drivers. to lamps
and if it told to do something, and is told correctly(scans)
then its bad or its output wires are shorted.
try a new lamp ?

Refr. page 50 in the SM ( MK jeep service manual, SM)
and 52.(turns)

the 4 head lamp wires(power) all are seperate at the EM
not parallel at all. independent, x4
and last the park lamps are independant on the EM
that means if the lamps are good and wires good then the EM
is faulting.
or its getting wrong commands, on the CAN-BUSS network
now you know how it works,
better is get the SM and read, it covers ALL this, in vivid details.
