1996 Toyota Corolla blowing fuse

1996 Toyota Corolla keeps blowing fuse which controls auto shifter and brake lights. Tired of replacing fuse, need root cause for problem.

Thanks for your help, this my son's car and could of sworn that I replaced all brake lights that were out. I'm having a hard time understanding why Toyota would disable your car because 1 of the 5 brake lights burns out!

97 toyota corolla brake fuse continues to blow

more than likely you have a park lock solenoid problem , a lot of them are located on the shifter assembly or attached to a cable coming from the ignition when you press the brake pedal you can hear a click ," locate it" and disconnect the electrical connection to the solenoid

1994 Corolla shifter won't release & no brake lights

Hope this isn't too late. You can override the shifter interlock - there is a small plug to the left of the shifter lever on the center console. Pry off the plug and insert a screwdriver and this will release the shifter button.

The brake lamp fuse is probably blown. This fuse also controls the shifter interlock.

Replace the fuse. When you put your foot on the brakes, if it blows again, you need to inspect your tail light sockets for wear. After a long time, the terminals on the bulb sockets wear and start to touch, causing the fuses to blow. You can replace the whole tail light harness in a few minutes and a junkyard should have them for a few dollars.

Coul not get shifter to do anything, Just stuck in park There was a littl button on top of shifter, tow truck driver popped it off, stuck a screwdriver in it, and I was able to get it out of park,,,is...

for the lights check the fuses under the dash and under the hood.it is unlikely more then one light would blow at the same time.the shifter should come out of gear when you press the brake.there is a switch that unlocks the shifter when the brake it pressed.switch may be bad.dash lights could also be a bad ignition switch.

Stuck in park, Land Rover Discovery 2002

well the brake also has a switch by the floor that controls a actuator that allows you to remove shifter from park check fuses again to make sure they dont continue to pop if they do you might have faulty wiring somewhere in circuit

Car

Fuses will blow out when there is a wire that's grounded out somewhere. Take the brake light sockets with the bulbs in it out of the lens and check for a wire that's broken or maybe corroded. Something is grounding out when you hit the brakes.
