I'm looking for answers, can anyone help?

  • Anonymous Jun 29, 2012

We have a 2003 Jeep Liberty 3.7L, AC worked some of the time, but not all. When it worked, worked great. After digging around online, I found a suggestion to watch the condenser clutch, sure enough, it was "sticking" some of the time, Some wd40 and light taps of the hammer have it cycling again normally.

It could be many things, maybe compressor heats up and shuts down, or cooling fans are cooling condensor or expansion valve is bad, a good tech will be able to diagnose this,

2004 sebring air conditioner stops and starts

Low freon will cause the compressor to short cycle, when the compressor runs the pressure in the low line is pulled down and the low pressure switch turns it off. Not running the pressure builds up and turns it back on. In the old days there was no low pressure switch, with no freon to carry the oil the compressor was destroyed.

My Jeep AC blows cold then stops and blows warm.. we made sure the freon was full (it is), but machanic said the lines might be clogged. any idea on a home fix for this?

Not really.
The orifice tube could be gummed up with debris from the compressor.
The tube is inside one of the lines going to the condenser.
Can you trace the cold line to see if it goes from the compressor to the evaporator ?

My 2003 jeep liberty's air conditioner blows hot

Probably, to be sure make sure the compressor is coming on. With the engine running turn on the ac and watch the rpms, they should drop for a second if the compressor is coming on. If so you just need to recharge, the refrigerant is R-134a, which you can get from your local parts store along with the kit needed to charge it. The kit will come with detailed instructions and is a pretty easy job.

My 2003 Jeep Liberty heater is blowing cold air when idling. Warms up when you hit the accelerator. I also hear a water rolling sound upon take off after idling. Water pump? Heater Core?

Water level perhaps. When you hit the accelerator the water volume increases. Check your water level and make sure that your thermostat is opening and closing properly. Water level I'm thinking

Ac blows cold air for about 15 minutes then starts blowing warm air then starts blowing cold air again freon is full

Freon is not full. If it goes back and fourth it is pumping then reaching a low pressure on the low side below 35 psi. Pressure while car is off should be pegged. Check at idle should be around 50 psi and 35 psi at 2000 rpms.

Good luck. If problem persists evac system replace dryer and recharge.

A/C blows warm air

Have your a/c tech look at the pressures at an idle. It sounds like the condensing coil does'nt have enough airflow or the compressor is week. Another possible problem could be that the temp control door is'nt operating properly. Hope this helps. Good luck.

2002 Jeep Liberty

I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty and after driving for about 30 minutes the air conditioner would start to blow hot air. The air conditioner clutch was sticking. I could hit the clutch and it would kick in and start to work. I went to Advance Auto and purchased a big spray can of electric motor cleaner and a big spray can of WD-40. I soaked the clutch with the electric motor cleaner, used the whole can, then soaked it with half a can of WD-40. The clutch has worked perfecty ever since.
