A wire run from the starter solenoid postive (+) terminal to a button somewhere on the dash panel is all that is required You need to connect the other side of the press button to a power source under the dash. The fuse box is a good place to start. Make sure your wiring is protected against shorts by a fuse. If the vehicle is an auto, don't do this. Get the inhibitor switch replaced instead.

1993nissanpickup d21try startin but just click new battery

check your ignition switch solinoid, it could be shot or check your starter relays and fuses, check the theft prevention switch just under the ignition cylinder. there are multiple things that could be causing this problem, but if your like me, you can just bypass all the starting relays for the starter and run a switch inside the cab to push that runs directly from the battery to the starter, and install a push-start button on the dash. let me know if this has helped you any, good luck.

they had a problem with the ground for the starter relay. its located under the drivers kick panel. you have to locate the relay and follow the ground back. i had the same issue. also you need to do a voltage drop test on the positive cable and check the resistance on the engine ground located on the bell housing

on the relay there will be a small wire that gets power when you turn the key to the start position
find that wire and connect it to the small terminal of the starter solenoid
then if you get it right , when you turn the key to start, power will get to the starter solenoid , energize the solenoid and the starter will engage

I need a simple diagram on how to install a push button starter switch using a toggle switch, push button and resistor. The only thing I need is to start the car. Its an old VW and I want to bypass the...

its hard to provide a schmatic without pictures but here is what you would need ... i assume you are using a three position toggle switch with a spring loaded position for start ... all contacts would be off at first .. contact #1 would be off, on , on ... that would switch 12 volts to the ignittion ballast resistor that is in series with the coil (normal running position).. contact #2 would be off, off, on (spring loaded) ... that would jumper the ballast resistor only for starting (that compensates for normally low battery voltage while running the starter) .... the third contact would also be off, off, on (spring loaded) . that would cnnect 12 volts to the starter relay .. that contact would have to be rated for the current drawn by the starter relay .... if you wanted a different switch arrangment ..like a toggle switch for ignition and a seperate push button for start .. then the ignition toggle would just provide 12 volts to the balast resistor that is in series with the coil ... it would only need one contact off,on .. the push button would have to have two contacts both operate at the same time .. one conntact would jump the balast resistor when on (start) .. the second would provide 12volts to the starter relay.. the second switch configuration might be easier to find than the first ...

Bypassing starter

the solenoid has 2 big cables one goes to the battery and the other to the starter.
the small wire that has a boot that pushes on to the screw is the control to close the solenoid.unless the solenoid is shorted, the starter should not run

Will not start

Normally the problem like this is caused by faulty starter relay. This can be solved by replacing the starter's relay contact mechanism. After a prolong time the starter relay contact mechanism will get worn out as a result of arcing.Check also to make sure there is no loose cable at the connection.
