CHECK THE HOSE THAT GOES FROM THE MOTOR TO THE VACUUM ASSIST CHAMBER. SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE A VACUUM LEAK IN THAT HOSE. wHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED THE ENGING SUCKS IN EXTRA AIR WHICH MAY CAUSE THE STALLING.

THE CARS VIN 8TH DIGIT TELL WHAT ENGINE IS THERE, so which one is it.?
check all fuses first, as in all
(cab and bay boxes)
and battery must be charged and good first. and kept charged for this service and testing.
no spark on just one cylinder or all ,(no engine told of 2)???????
the service manual covers all that.

so starter does crank the engine fast?and robustly? not slow as slug.
1.9 L, SOHC, SINGLE CAM
1.9l DOHC TWIN CAM ENGINE
2.0l
3.0L ? V6?
THEY ARE not THE SAME AT ALL , FOR EFI OR SPARK
BUT Both engines run a pair of twin coil packs
rule1:
the 2 HV lugs on each pack both must be wired to the correct spark plug !!!

or firing order is noW dead wrong and fails. called wasted spark.

rule2
2nd rules is it those old 24 year old wires sets (junk) if one fails open, that makes 2 spark plugs go dead and bingo it will never start as 2 cylinder engine ever. never ever run 24 year wire sets, of fail you will !!!
go NGK mag-wire sets in fact. best.
rule 3: wasted spark
to test spark never pull 2 HV wires on one coil pack . test HV wires 1 by 1 using clean new test spark plug.
yes 2 can be tested at the same time but lets skip how now, do thme 1 at a time
spark tests. do not skip any.



scan the PCM yet for DTC errors, be big shame to miss out ,omg the PCM sees CMP or CKP dead. cam or crank sensors errors or coil pack errors.

Id have new spark wires installed this old. 24 years.
and now rule #4 wasted spark
do not pull off all wires to it replacing the pack
do so 1 wire off old pack on back on to the same exact lug. on new pack
or , firing order is lost.


for the 1.9L (wild guessing me the engine)
if you get it all messes up the cure is here
4 and 1 fire same time
2 and 3 fire same time, paired.

2002 Ford ZX2 301&302codes new timing belt wires

FORD ESCORT.THE TWIN CAM, DOHC.ENGINE.
do not mix up coil pack 4HV wires or wrecks firing order
THE PCM + PACK SETS FIRING ORDER.
WIRED WRONG THERE IS NO RUNNING, ENGINE.
I WILL POST A BETTER PACK FROM NGK
do not change HV wires unless 1 at a time.
if one HV wire fails 2 plugs go dead.
this tech is called wasted spark.
the misfire is real and plug 1 and 3 are dead
flashing CEL means CAT melts next with flood of raw fuel landing on the CAT input.
first learn the 3 rules of spark engines
good engine, 150psi or more, and cam belt not SLIPPED.
next is spark if spark is good fuel is last
cant burn fuel on dead engine or dead spark or timed backwards.
301means weak combustion#1ONLY THAT>
why is next. and that takes tools GOT TOOLS?
99% do not here and want 50 guesses.
if used a timing light (spark tool) and timing is wayoff
the belt was put in wrong
or coil pack wired wrong.,OMG not both, sigh./

I have a 2002 Isuzu Trooper and need to change ignition coil. Step by step

what engine?
well , only 1 rule. do not mix HV wires
on any coil pack with 2 or more HV terminals.
just like in the old days of distributors.
they had 5 engines ,3 gas, you never said which one, so i cant wax too savvy, right?
key off
unplug the plug,(small wires there) all plugs have locks
never force them ever
mark the #1 spark HV wire on the coil
now mark the new coil. same terminal
now pull the wires.(or mark them all if noob)

here is the 2002 engine line up
real names !
3.2 L 6VD1 SOHC V6
3.2 L 6VD1 DOHC V6 twin cam.
3.5 L 6VE1 DOHC V6 twin cam.
3.0 L 4JX1 TD I4 diesel
3.1 L 4JG2 TD I4 diesel

my buddies car is the V6 3.5L
and has 6 COP coils. (id replace its boots first)
you didnt say coils but said coil.
why>?
COPS are a totally different matter, and very expensive to change all 6, if yes, why?
or did you mean the ICM , ign, contr. module.

Why does my 1997 ford escort stall after turning right?

maybe the bulkhead to the computer is loose or needs to be unplugged and then plugged back in. make sure that it is moisture free, unhook the battery before unplugging and plugging the computer.. ;)

1999 ford escort I changed the plugs, but broke a plug cap. Bought a generic replacement spark plug wire that had to be modified to fit into the head. I cannot get the firing order correct. The car...

Remove the plugs from the head. Insert into the coil wires. Make sure they are properly earthed on the engine. Crank the motor and check for spark at each of the plugs.
Refer to the diagram. Cylinders are connected as shown on the diagram in blue. 1 goes to cylinder 1(sparkplug furthest from coil pack), 2 to 2, 3 to 3 and 4 to 4(closets to coil pack).
To test the coil pack use a digital volt meter. Measure resistance between coil towers for coil 1(marked 1 in red on diagram) Value should be between 12000 and 14500 ohm. Do the same for coil towers 2.
Measure resistance between I and C1. If the measurement is more than 5 ohm the coil is defective. Do the same for I to C2.
Measuring voltage at I(Ignition start/run) to ground should be 10V.
I is connected to the 15A engine fuse. The radio interference capacitor is connected between this line and earth at the coil. Disconnect it to see if it cures the problem.
C1 and C2 connect to the powertrain control module.
Bear in mind that aftermarket coil wires may cause problems with misfiring, so see if you cant find an OEM coil wire to replace the broken one before replacing anything else.

New coil pack in 1998 Ford Escort failed in one week?

alright the most likely cause is the spark plug wires. put a set of wires on it and let us now how things are. good luck.
