I have an cadillac Cts 2003 with starting problems

I have an cadillac Cts 2003 , For the first week i would try it and it wouldnt work so I would leave it alone for about 10 to 20 mins and try it again then it would start . Sometime if i leave the car idle, say at a stop light it would turn itself off. Now it doesnt start at all . When i turn the key i can hear it trying to start but when i let go of the key it would just stop. Some people say its the timing belt, spark plugs,or the fuel pump.Im not hearing a ticking sound so i guess its not the starter.

i had the same problem with my cts found out that i had a bad crank sensor

my cts will crank by itself when i turn the car on but won't start. we have changed the spark plugs and have put on a new timing belt. still does the same thing. It quit on me while I was at drs appt 40 miles away from my home. I called the dealer ship and they told me to turn the key to on position and leave it like it for about 5 mins. Then it started and when I went to our dealership they plugged in the computer and its not giving any codes out. So they don't know no more than I do. Can someone help

The plugs are the problem, they become unable to ignite all the fuel when in idle, so that they get wet and won't give any spark until dry. try to replace them. if there's no difference the problem is at the admission system(fuel pump maybe)

It sounds like to me that it may be a crank sensor...i had a land Rover to do the same exact thing...but its a easier job to replace a crank sensor than a fuel pump...its not the timing belt, or spark plugs.

Traction control

Any help from the manual on Traction Control kicking in? What happens when you turn off TC?

Mellissa, it needs to be diagnosed since these vehicles are highly computerized. Take it to a mechanic who has proper equipment to test. It might be a settings problem .

2003 Cadillac CTS won't start after disconnecting battery

Don't do that again! You will need to re-boot the on board computer system by entering a code. Call your nearest Cadillac dealer.

My 2003 cadillac cts wouldnt go pass 3,000 rpm, whats the cause?

Check fuel pressure, and exhaust back pressure, Exhaust backpressure high would indicate restricted flow... probably restricted converter.

My 2003 CTS would not start on the first, second or third try after filling the gas tank. Finally after several months of this occuring every two weeks a check engine light came on. It was the evac purge valve. Tom

Car cuts off while I am driving...

Yes...this is a sensor problem and will get worse before it gets better. The crankshaft position sensor on the CTS is famous for this. It's located in the engine block under and slightly ahead of the oil filter and is a bugger to get to.
Good luck...i hope this helps.

2003 cadillac cts drive shaft is making knocking noise

My 2003 CTS had the same noise problem while on vacation one day. When I returned from the vacation and dropped it off at the Caddy dealership it was revealed that several of the "U" joint nuts had worked themselves loose. A quick fix was to tighten up the "U" Joint bolts and the problem was solved!
