either your connectors need cleaning or maybe a break in the wiring. Is there on spot where both wires come together if so check there. If there is any plugs, pull them apart and clean them with contact cleaner
If the aftermarket deck has a amp wire you will have to wire it into the lead that controls the amp relay. You will have to get the schematic for your electrical system to locate the 12 volt trigger wire for the relay that turns on the delco/bose amp. that way everytime you turn on the deck the amp will also turn on.
You should be using line out from your aftermarket stereo if using the vehicle's existing amp. Then again, you may choose to bypass it, depending on the power being put out by your new stereo. In both the Expedition and Excursion, the sound systems are different than smaller Fords. The Eddie Bauer typically had the Premium sound system, and the wiring can get tricky with those. You want to make sure it's done right so you don't short out and damage the amp circuit in your new stereo. If all you're using is the existing speakers, then go ahead and bypass.
In the yukon it has preamplify,if you disconnect stock stereo the amp is not workind unless you know how to find it. You gotta let the car-toy hook it up for you.
IF YOU GO TO WALMART AND BUY THE WIRING HOOK UP KIT THATS MADE JUST FOR YOUR TYPE OF CAR U SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS.. YOU CAN DO THE AMP BYPASS, OR YOU CAN INSTALL YOU NEW DECK AND REWIRE THE SPEAKERS DIRECTLY TO THE NEW DECK.. HOPE I WAS A HELP GOOD LUCK KEITH..
Why do you need to trace them? Is it a stock amp? If you know where the amp is....then tracing the wiring is a cinch....
The amp has to be powered, so there's most likely a power wire from your battery. If it's a stock amp, it's powered from behind your cd player. And be more specific, what speakers? There's like what, six?
They all go to one spot man, right behind the cd player.
What's spiking? The sound? As in it's loud, quiet, loud, quiet, loud? You might have a bad ground somewhere, so check grounds. Those are easy to find, behind the deck the ground is black. If it's an aftermarket amp, then the ground is going to be close by to it. It's most likely screwed to the steel part of your car.
It could be your deck to, it might have just got randomly defective. You do have a 96 after all.
If it's an aftermarket cd player...check your wiring harness. You have to cut the wires from the car to tie them into the harness for your cd player, so jiggle those around to see if you can hear a difference.
