Is this a hatchback? check the wiring, where it goes from the tailgate to the vehicle body, passed experience, continual opening and closing the tailgate causes the wiring to flex and break. The wiring is usually in a rubber sleeve.
thought the tyre shop should have known ,this vehicle has ABS and depending on the system you cannot bleed the brakes without dealer software to make the ABS system open to allow the fluid through .Sorry got to go first customer here
Did they break the larger window? or the smaller one? The larger one is the easy one, remove the door panel, adjust the window mechanism until you can see the bolts on the bottom window track, undo these bolts and remove the old track, To fit the new window it's simply a matter of removing the side window guide rail and sliding the window in on an angle and wiggle it around until you get it inside the door, the seat it in the rail and replace the guide rail. Then bolt the window to the mechanism and re-assemble the door panel.
If it's the smaller one you need to remove the larger window first then remove the frame between the smaller and larger piece of glass, You can then replace the glass.
I would suggest calling around and you may get a good price for an expert to replace it as it is a pain to do.
open the door to the drivers side and on the side of the dash is a panel remove it by turning the button ..read inside of the cover for the fuse .if you need to know exactly which one it is i can run down to my truck and check it for an exact location
If there is a scratch across any of the little lines on the rear window all or part of the defroster will not work. It could also be a bad relay not allowing enough power to the rear.
the sub panal doesnt come off seperate you will break it if you try and you will need to remove the whole side panal its e-z afer the panals removed good luck and remember dont force or pull to hard
I've had this problem and I believe its a common problem with S types. There is a white plastic slider that wraps around a metal strut and moves up and down as the window opens and closes. The problem is that the plastic slider breaks if the car door is slammed when the window is half way down, When this occurs the slider breaks free and the wire that pulls it up and down wraps itself around the motor and jamms everything up. The fix is to replace the window regulator as a complete unit. This fairly straight forward and worth the effort as you most likely will be replacing the other regulators if you keep the car for a while. Buy the regulator either from Jag dealer or OEM part which is approx 1/2 the cost (I found mine on ebay!). Make sure your get the correct unit, left, right, front and rear are different. Take off the door panel, its all clips except you need to unscrew the two scews under the rubber insert in the door pocket first. After you have removed the panel remove the black plastic cover as well. You need to detach the glass window from the regulator, This is done by punching out the brass insert in the middle of the plastic plug that is pushed through a hole in the glass. Be careful, if you hit it too hard you can break the glass, I ended up drilling it out as this was easier. Once you have the plastic plug out the glass is detached and you can remove the regulator. This is just a few screws, the only tricky part is to get the angle right to pull it out the door frame. Installation of the regulator is just the reverse. Good luck.
