How do you replace the headlight bulb on a Toyota Corolla (2003)? Do you need to remove the whole headlight assembly?
Hi,
You have to remove the headlight assembly mounting screws and remove the
headlight assembly. Remove the power cable by squeezing the lock clip
to release the cable, then release the bulb from the headlight assembly.
Reverse process for the new bulb.
Let me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
You can and it is not difficult, there are two bolts holding the top of the headlight to the body just over the radiator and a couple of screws holding the indicato in place, but you can access the back of the light fitting without doing so . It is a bit of a squeeze on the battery side.
It is an easy job to remove the headlight and will only take a couple of minutes. It is preferable to losing the skin on the back of your hand. Remember not to touch the new globe with your fingers or it will blow straight away. If you do, clean it with meths or thinners.
Everytime I undo the battery, the bracket comes adrift and it is such a mission to relocate it. hence the reason I move the headlight out of the way, also you can see what is going on.

Usually answered in minutes!
Really? You have to remove the whole headlight assembly just to change a bulb?
I spent 2 hours last night squeezing my hands down the side of the battery and trying to squeeze, push, pull, twist, yank and still I cannot get the bulb out.
Just to let you guys know, I managed this without removing the headlight assembly. It's possible to do by just loosening your battery and sliding it out of the way a few inches. Gives you plenty of room to maneuver the new bulb (bulb tab to the top, not the bottom!). Thanks for the help anyway.
