2001 Chrysler 300M repeatedly stalling; mechanics can't replicate

My 2001 Chrysler 300M (43,000 miles) has recently begun stalling. Sometimes it stalls at lights and sometimes it stalls while it's in motion. The power steering freezes during these incidents, so I can't get over the the shoulder. The car is not overheated when this occurs. I drive on the highway to get to work so I'm terrified of stalling and being rear-ended. Mechanics are unable to replicate the problem and no codes are registering, so nothing has been done to fix this. Poking around the internet it seems like a lot of people have this issue, but I'm not seeing any solutions.

Well, the power steering will freeze when the motor is not running. the mechanic may not find what seems to be the problem specially when no warning lights are coming. you can try replacing the fuel cervo and this will surely help. not everyone knows about this.

2001 Chrysler 300M Engine Light on all the time

Hello, my engine light was on for a VERY LONG time and everytime I got it checked no one could tell me what the problem was because things always checked out fine. The "code" says its a loose gas cap or something, but it wasnt that. My 300M also was having A HARD TIME STARTING UP for about 8 months and leaking coolant for about a month. I finally found a mechanic who knew what he was doing; 1. Leaking Radiator 2. Coolant found in #2 or #3 cylinder. The cause of this was a busted HEAD GASKET. If your 300M has trouble starting and the Engine light stays on have a mechanic check your engine for a busted head gasket and see if all your cylinders are firing correctly. I had to pay $2600 for a new Head Gasket, Radiator and all new hoses plus labor. CRYING!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2001 300M 130K - very well kept. Stuff happens...

Driving on 495 at 70 miles an hour and car dies.. does turn over

Both the interior lights and car stalling are common problems with most Chrysler 300's in that era. The most common fix for the interior lights was " headlight lamp connector failure" due to "bad relay connectors".

The stalling problem was traced back to 2 different possible issues.
  1. Bad EGR valve; when exhaust gas backs up to the point where the car will skip and sometimes stall
  2. Bad Crank Position Sensor
I hope this helps clarify your problem. Best of luck.
