I HAVE A PO335 CODE IN MY 2002 OLDS INTRIGUE 3.5L IT SAYS CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR A CIRCUIT. DOES THIS MEAN THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR? IF SO WHER IS IS LOCATED?

P0335 is for Crank Sensor.

This Code means - CKP SNSR "A" CKT problem.

The service codes by themselves do not mean a whole lot; they are merely clues as to what system in the vehicle is experiencing a fault. Parts should never be replaced based solely on service codes, as ANY fault in an associated circuit (such as a loose connection, damaged wire, high resistance, electrical noise, etc...) sets the same service code as a failing sensor.

The best course of action is to take the vehicle in to your favorite local repair shop to have the problem diagnosed before replacing any parts. A technician will attempt to duplicate the problem, and retrieve any stored data related to the failure from your car's computer memory (along with the codes, you car stores "freeze frame" data; a snapshot of the vehicle's data stream at the moment that the fault occurred). This information is then taken to a service manual for the vehicle, which will provide a diagnostic testing routine provided by the vehicle's manufacturer to follow to identify the exact fault in the specific system that is having the problem.

In the case of a suspected crank or cam sensor problem, this will likely involve using a DVOM to check for high resistance across various parts of the circuit, and using a digital oscilloscope to check the signal being generated by the various sensors for abnormalities that could indicate an internal failure.

In your particular case, a timing chain problem is not a very likely cause of the hard starting problem; it is more likely an electrical fault.

This is a Tech Job.I could tell you the Procedure as you inquire regarding the same :-



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
4. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector
.
5. Remove the CKP sensor bolt (1).
6. Remove the CKP sensor (2) from the engine block:
• Remove the sensor by pulling on the sensor connector. DO NOT pry on the bracket.
• DO NOT rotate or twist the sensor or damage the mounting bracket if the sensor is being reused.

Installation Procedure

Important: When replacing the CKP sensor with a new sensor or reinstalling the original sensor, use the following recommended procedures:
• Ensure that the CKP sensor bore is completely free of any foreign material, such as old O-ring, dirt, burrs, etc.
• Ensure that the flange on the CKP sensor bore is not damaged.
• Clean all the mounting surfaces before re-installing any components.
• Inspect the CKP sensor and replace the sensor if any of the following conditions are present:
- The bracket is damaged.
- The bottom of the brass housing exhibits any damage.
- Never install a sensor that has been dropped.
• Lubricate the O-ring on the sensor with clean engine oil prior to installing the sensor .
• Inspect all the connectors for any damaged terminals.

# Install and fully seat the CKP sensor (2) into the engine block.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
# Install the CKP sensor bolt (1).

Tighten

Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in)
# Ensure that the CKP sensor mounting flange is contacting the engine block.
# Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
# Install the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
# Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
# Lower the vehicle.
# The CKP System Variation Learn Procedure must be performed after replacing the CKP sensor. Even if the original sensor is reinstalled, the Learn Procedure must be performed.

That code represents you must have engine oil on the sensors wiring. Disconnect the connector and clean it off with a solvent and dry. Then try to start it later'Good luck
