Vehicle: 99 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 4wd When in overdrive if I allow the RPM below 1700 or so (below 55 mph) and then attempt to speed up the truck will shake violently with an audible bang unless i ease into it VERY slowly. If I keep on the throttle it will continue to shake and bang in rapid succession until it kicks down. There are no problems in other gears, no codes are shown, and the transmission fluid is at the proper level and doesnt smell burnt. My first thought is a hard part in the transmission but thats just a wild guess. Anyone know what this is?

It is an adjustment or clutch replacenment issue. Manual transmissions rarely have a lube issue unless you have seen a big puddle of very thick oil in the driveway.
I think I'd be looking at the clutch of this 16 year old vehicle. Unless you have the tools, time and skill to change the clutch, this is probably a job better left to a professional. Adjusting the clutch mechanism might help for a while but I think you will soon need a clutch job on your GMC.
