If the motor works when the wiper stalk is moved, but the wipers do not move then the retaining nuts for the wiper arms may be lose., but the motor doesn't work then check the front wiper relay if its relay is work then u have to change the wiper motor sorry.
Testimonial: "gave me a few ideas and fixed the problem"
The two are not really connected
The front wiper has its own speed control, relay and motor.
You really need to start at the fuse box to see if a fuse has blown
Wiper motors can draw a lot of current for their size so check out the larger rated fuses first
If you have supply then you need the lift the wiper arms off the screen wrap some cloth around them to protect the screen if they drop back.
Switch the wipers on and manually move the wiper blades , if they kick into life it points to a bad segment on the wiper motor armature or worn carbon brushes
If they are still dead it is a case of getting a meter on to check supplies to it

HI
Well im a girl and know nothing about cars and just had a nightmare with my wipers. Went to 3 garages yesterday who checked the motor and fuses and they were fine. They all said it was the wiper relay which I have had to order from Benfield motors-they are now selling the parts for renault...they didnt have a clue to be honest! The lads in Kwik Fit have been amazing and very helpful! Hope this helps. I am waiting for my relay to be delivered...so fingers crossed!!
SOURCE: front wipers won't work
HI,CANNOT SUPPLY DRAWING,BUT IF YOU CAN MOVE WIPER ARMS FREEY ON SCREEN,ONE OF THE BALL JOINTS HAVE JUMPED OFF,YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE PLASTICS TO GET TO IT AND JUST SNAP JOINT BACK ON.THANKS
SOURCE: windshield wipers in front wont work but rear wipers work
Hi! U need to check the switch and the wiring circuit that controls the motor.
SOURCE: front wipers stopped working but you can hear the motor run also
If the wipers were buried under snow/ice or frozen to the windshield, you may have blown the red 10 amp fuse located in cavity 9 in the fuse block located on the bottom left side of the instrument panel near the parking brake pedal.
In order of easiest to check:
1) ensure wipers not frozen to windshield.
2) ensure wiper arms are not loose on the pivot stud,
3) check the red 10 amp fuse.
You stated that "you can hear the motor". Which motor do you hear? The engine or the wiper motor?
If you hear the wiper motor, then the fuse is alright. Try 1) and 2) above.

Sounds like the motor is tired. BUT!check the switch first. variable speed switches fail more often than wiper motors.
