Any recall on 2003 GMC Sierra's odometer? - 2003 GMC Sierra

If the speedometer works, but the odometer does not, the problem is in the cluster. If the speedometer and odometer do not work, you should have a check engine light and the trouble code will probably be for the speed sensor in the transmission.

there is a speed sensor that connects to the transmission. cheap fix but i would check that. also, the cable connections should be checked to make sure they are not corroding.

There are many things that can cause a dead battery. However, from your description of the problem with the odometer, I would suspect a bad switch in the door latch assembly. (most likely, the driver's door)

Same problem. My 2003 GMC Sierra pickup V6 has 234,000 miles on it & the odometer and trip indicator have "blinked out". No indication. What are my troubleshooting options? [email protected]

There was not a recall, but there was a class action settlement where GM agreed to extend the warranty on certain vehicles for this problem. Check www.gmspeedometerrecall.com to see if you qualify.

your right it is a problem with them but some repair shops can send them out and have them in a few days.

GMC yukons are notorious for gauge malfunctions, there are recalls for some models
However, if you have recently changed your battery this problem can occur and will take some driving time 30 min-60 min for the computer to fully reset.

This is a stepper motor problem in the instrument cluster. Each indicator be a gas, speed o, temp,etc it is run by one of these motors GM had a recall on some products I understand. These can be repaired but it must be pulled ans sent off takes about 5 to 7 days and cost 170.00 this includes return shipping, exchanges are available but I had mine repaired.
