95 Nissan Maxima with fuel injection issue.

I have a 95 Nissan Maxima that appears to have fuel injection/fuel pump problems. It was starting hard prior to the cold weather arriving and now it won't start at all. When it turns over, a groveling/grinding noise comes from the fuel injectors area. I also get a strong smell of gas during this time. My check engine light is not on, so I can't get any codes out of the computer.

It starts with a push, but not with a jump.

Could be battery, starter or coolant sensor.

It is hard to understand / get across engine noises with words so difficult to diagnose over the net but try to push start the car and let me know if it starts ok with a push. Also, maybe try a jump start, preferably using a circuit protector if you have one.
Let me know results of the above.

Yep, as I thought. The noise you are hearing is the solenoid stuggling *this is common for them to give up as soon as the weather goes cooler* either get it reconditioned or replace it and problem solved.

Unfortunately the solenoid is all part and parcel of the starter motor... so it will be a replacement starter motor required.

My 95 Nissan Maxima has trouble starting in cold have to press on gas to get it to start

I suspect you may not have enough fuel pressure.Fuel injection requires very high pressure to start car and by pumping the gas pedal the car is flooding itself and that let's it start.

2000 nissan maxima engine hesitation problems

Has your Nissan sat for a period of time? If so, could be dirty gas...try adding 2 bottles of Heet gas line antifreeze and injection cleaner..also as this works, be sure not to let the gas level go below 1/4 tank...If needed check air filter dirty...throttle body dirty...Hope this helps.

Wont start after sitting over night when starting have to give gas than it starts 1997 nissan maxima

This problem is often caused by a defective fuel pump pressure check valve, this allows the fuel in the lines and the filter to drain back into the tank, this causes hard starting. The pressure check valve is part of the fuel pump so you must replace the fuel pump to correct the problem, the fuel p[ump is located inside the fuel tank.

Can a bad map sensor cause a 2002 nissan maxima to have problems going above 2000 rpmscar runs has engine code for bad map sensor but will not go over 2000-2200 rpms so you canot really accelerate normally...

If the sensor is bad it causes the computer to change air/fuel mixture for the fuel injection and would have that effect, other possible causes would be a clogged fuel filter or the fuel pump is going bad but you need to change the map sensor if it is sending a code.

95 maxima hard to start

Remove the high tension cable to the distributor from the ignition unit. Conduct a spark test. If there's no spark, try to replace the ignition coil or the igniter.

CRANKING BUT DELAYED STARTING

Test for proper fuel pressure with a test gauge on the fuel rail, most throttle body injection cars (TBI) are between 13 psi and 17 psi. and most (DPI) direct port inject systems are between 40 psi and 55 psi. If no or little fuel pressure is observed and there is 12 volt power present at the fuel pump, the fuel pump has failed and needs replacing.
