1998 c1500 surging and bucking under light acceleration
chevy pickup 2wd. (C) gen4 truck, pick up not the Suburban C1500
no engine told and is engine question , no VIN told (has engine code)
4 engine , 3 gas, 1 diesel. gas 4.3,5.0-and 5.7 and D6.5
OK 4.3 told
LOST YOUR SCAN TOOL>? USA answer me, 1998 is OBD2 here.
Barrow ,rent ,buy or get any shop or even car stores to scan it?
that is called misfiring and the can too for sure reports on that,
its not scanning first the reason , we don;'t know./
some car must be driving hard, to get a CEL even 3 times drive cycles. or if in CANADA THEIR Silly OBD2 masks many codes failing , as seen scanned,
a bad FPR can show good fuel pressure then fail up hills or more load put on the engine, (it fails to regulate at all times)
my answers are generic, due top no engine or vin told.
if I had replaced all that, id have stopped
and scanned it, then a compression test now
and make sure all spark plug tips look no, not green with antifreeze or carbon or OIL soaked and then compression test. is really first
no bad engine runs right, for sure below 150psi compression. (gas)
99% of all posts here never tell that engine or scan the PCM./
making answers pure ASE day 1, answer generic.
engine good, ALL CYLspark good , ALLfuelNG good.1,2,3 (pure physics really)
sad is what if EFI OBD2 told you what is failing?
CYLINDER 6 (WEAK COMBUSTION) DTC CODE
say P0306 fails, and spark plug 3 is green COATED (AF50%)
OR SOAKED IN OIL AND COMPRESSION IS 50PSI OR ZERO
SAD TO MISS THAT, NO?
SCAN IT.
ITS ONLY HAPPEN DURING THE ACCELERATION.. AND IT CAN BE HAPPEN ANY SPEED SPECIALLY LOW SPEEDS. LIKE WHEN I TRY TO PRESS ACCELERATOR DEEP. BUT THESE ARE HAPPENING ONLY I USING LPG.
MY FRIEND SAID THE CASE IS MY SPARK PLUGS. THEN I CHANGE ALL 6 PLUGS. AFTER PROBLEM SOLVE. BUT AGAIN SAME THING HAPPEN AFTER 2 WEEKS.
WHEN I CHANGE THE PLUGS I SAW ONE OR TWO MY COIL PLUGS DAMAGE UNDER THE PLASTIC PARTS. THEN I THINK MAY BE THE ELECTRIC SHOCK LEAK TO THE BODY FROM THOSE DAMAGE COIL ENDS.
BUT PROBLEM IS HOW ITS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I USING THE LPG. I ASKED THE REASON FROM THE GARAGE PERSON. HE TOLD ME WHEN I USING PETROL IF THE ELECTRIC SHOCK LEAK TO THE BODY IT WILL NOT BE THE BIG CASE. BUT FOR THE LPG IT WILL BE THE BIG PROBLEM.
THEN I HOPE TO CHANGE THOSE DAMAGE COILS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER.
PLEASE HELP ME FOR THIS MATTER..
THANX..
When you changed the plugs, did you notice any black gunk on the tips? Spark plugs usually don't just give out that quickly. If your fuel injectors are old and sending too much fuel to the engine, it will clog up your spark plugs with excess fuel and stop them from sparking properly. If your coil or your wires are giving out it could cause the same thing but it would more likely stall out once the engine got hot. It sounds to me like your problem is not temperature dependent so I don't think it's an electrical issue. If you want to be on the safe side, you can still change out the wires and coil, when I had to change them on my gf's car it only cost about 100$.
Is the steering wheel vibrating? Is the vibration constant? At what speed is this happening? Does this vibration continue once the car has reached your desired speed or does it only happen during acceleration?
You need to explain the problem in more detail. This problem may be unrelated to the spark plugs. 1. What type of vibration are you experiencing when you accelerate? describe it. 2. Where is the source of the vibration you complain of. You say the "car" is vibrating. Is the vibration definitely from the engine?
