My 1997 ford windstar van has been looked at by 3 mechanics, they all tell me something different is wrong, it keeps flooding and blowing smoke after going down the road about 3 miles, then it stalls out, and is hard to start. Where should I start to check the problem? Some told me the #3 fuel injector was bad, but we put new injectors on it just a little while ago, some tell me the fuel regulator is bad, some tell me the motor is shot?? can you please help? where can I get diagrams of the motor for free online?

Fuse keep blowing

Sounds like a short in the wiring to the reverse lights or another part of that fuse. Often shares fuse with shift indicator. Also could be bad fuse block. Good luck.

I have a 98 ford windstar, and the tranny went out in it. so i went to a junk a yard and bought a 98 ford windstar tranny from them. my dad took out my old tranny that was in the van and said that both...

You answered your own question.
They don't look the same,so why not return it.

Having owned a Trans Shop, I will tell you, getting a used trans will be the worst auto repair decision of your life.

Your buying something most likely worse than your pulling out of yours.

All Auto Trans need to be perfectly super clean inside to work well.
80% of all failures are due to not changing the fluid every 30,000 miles or two years.

Your best bet is what is called over-the-counter. You drop off your trans at a shop, they rebuild it with the latest updates and you install a rebuilt converter, adding a quart of fluid first.

All transaxles, especially van type ,don't hold up well. Not many see 100K.

You never want to have a front end collision with a van and expect your quality of life to be very good afterward. A larger SUV is safer and rear wheel trans, hold up pretty well.

My 1999 Ford Windstar minivan we keep blowing fuses that have to do with the rear defrost wondering if anyone could tell me where the wires are running through the van so i can find my short a lot easier

just put a bulb or buzzer in place of the fuse. it will go out or stop buzzing when you remove hte short. Check the connections to the back glass first

2001 Ford Windstar speedometer fuse keeps blowing

We had the same problem but when we put in a new fuse it smoked. It turned out to be something with the master cylinder and required the changing of a 20 dollar part by the mechanic and problem solved
