Hi I have a 1998 audi a4 and the blower motor keeps blowing the fuse number 25 once the key is turned on. I know the motor works as I put a hot wire on it, how can i find the short? or fix it with a new power source

everything else works on the car, it seems the brown wire on the blower motor is the hot lead into the motor, does this wire go to the fuse block number 25?

Hi, first off, check to see if there is anything else on the same circuit, e.g is everything else working with the fuse blown. The cigarette lighter is a favorite. If everything else is ok, use a a multimeter set to amps from the positive battery terminal to the heater motor input terminal (with a suitable fuse in line) to test the amps draw of the motor. You can then compare this with the fuse rating recommended and if it's greater than 2/3 of the fuse rating, then replace the motor. e.g 10 amp fuse 7 amps max loading, 15 amp fuse 10 amp loading.
Hope that helps Matt..

Hi again, have you tried it with the multiplug (heater motor) disconnected? Does the fuse still blow? The brown cable on an Audi is generally the +ve but I wouldn't recommend bypassing it permanently without finding the source of the fault.

    Matt.

My GMC Envoy keeps blowing the 10 amp fuse for the heaters.I unplugged the front blower fan but it still does it. Is the other fan in the consul?

The fuse isn't for blower motor. I saw a fuse 39 and fuse 36 both 10 amp, both for hvac. I don't know which one is blowing? One fuse is for actuator doors under the dash, the other is battery voltage to hvac control module. One is hot all the time, the other goes hot with key on.
What is model year? Does it blow as soon as you turn on the key? Any applicable hvac trouble codes? About all I can do is track wiring circuits.

2001 audi a4 1.8t keeps blowing the #25 fuse. Climate control, blower motor and relay all new. went do dealer to re-calibrate computer and still has same problem. Anyone know??

You must have a short somewhere. It's going to be hard to find for sure. Next time it blows start checking for the short with a volt meter in everything connected to that fuse.

I have a audi a4 1.8t can turn blower all the way up wen car is not running wen car is running as soon as I turn on fan lowest setting the fuse blows thank you for your help please email at...

It sounds like you have a bad connection out side under the hook upper left side on the fire wall is the blower motor there are two sets of wires going to this one set is for the motor witch works the other set controls the resistors for the differant fan speeds Try unpluging those wires its the larger of the two connectors and has more wires going to it clean the connections if this dosn;t fix the problem you may need to replace the resistor board in side the house But most of the time its just a pour connection

Heater blower does not work on my audi a4, where

The blower motor is located behind the glovebox.

You will need to remove the glovebox and you will see the blower motor at the top right side. Remove the screws holding it, disconnect the electrical connector and remove it from the car. It is a tight squeeze, be patient.

My Audi A4 air con is not blowing any air hot or cold how do I fix For a period of time the blower was coming on and the fault seemed to be intermittent It would run for a week and than stop for a week,...

Same thing happened with mine - the blower brushes were worn down. If you take out the glove compartment, remove the blower and take the motor off it, you will see three brushes (gold-bronze colour). Take them out, turn them round and you will get another year to look for spares (or it's 130 quid for a new blower).

Car heat blower is not blowing heat/air into the car

it's either a fuse or it's a bad blower motor, it could be a bad blower motor resistor but usually you'll get either high or low only, so if you have nothing on any speed, high low etc, and all the fuses are ok chances are it's your blower motor.
