Hiya,

Here you go:

2.5L Engine To Remove:

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner housing.
  3. Vehicles with 5-spd transmission: Remove the clutch slave cylinder and set aside.
  4. Disconnect the knock sensor wire harness retainer from the coolant hose.
  5. Disconnect the knock sensor (KS) wire connector.
  6. Remove the mounting bolt and knock sensor from the engine block.

stand at the front drivers tire, Peer over just below where the throtle cables connect onto the side of the throtle body, Now look straight down. It's that round black thing bolted to the top of the motor with a wire coming out over to a connector under the intake manifold.

Is a rear diff from a 1997 subaru legacy wagen with a 2.2l inter changeable with a 1997 subaru legacy outback with a 2.5l ?

the only way you can do this is if you can identify the gear ratios from both cars with the transmission codes found on the strut tower plate.

Can you switch a rear diff from a 1997 subaru legacy wagen with a 2.2l inter changeable with a 1997 subaru legacy outback with a 2.5l ?

the biggest draw back that you will have to check first is the ratio of the diffs you want to change. If they are not the same but will fit then you will destroy the 3rd diff in the transmission from excessive use.

Location knock sensor1997 subaru legacy outback

The knock sensor is located on the top of the engine block almost hidden from view by the intake manifold. It is almost directly below the spot where your throttle cable connects. It will have a bolt running right through the middle of it and a single wire coming out of it.

I'm trying to adjust the timing on the subaru 1997 outback legacy 2.5 engine and it seems to not be correct.

The ignition timing is not adjustable. It is computer controlled by the crank sensor, cam sensor and knock sensor. Would be easier to help you if I knew why you were trying to adjust it. Have a great day.
