It could be the problem if the car has this type of sensor. Otherwise it is another sensor activating the light. The only way to tell is have a diagnostics test ran to read the engine codes, and then have the system reset by the same diagnostic scanner. Many part stores will check it for free.

Testimonial: "Yea it was definitely the oil, the engine light went off the same day i got it changed thanks "

What cleans the inside of a car engine?

if you are talking about sludge and the like
use diesel engine oil --say --shell rotella 20w40 as the engine oil( same oil but with more detergent additive )
change the oil filter around every 1000 miles for starters can block easily and the oil every 3000 miles for the first 10000 miles after that oil change every 5000 miles along with the filter change

How often do you change the oil

Depends on many factors. Around 3500 to 5000 miles. If driven in dusty conditions and hard service, more frequently like 3500 miles.

Often depends on temperatures where you drive and style of oil you use. They make better filters for longer distance between changes.

Some people like 2 changes a year regardless of low miles. I would say you are pretty much okay by not going over 5000 miles distance and at least twice a year. Even if you drive 1000 miles a year the detergents and moisture can wear out within a year.

Remember, the people who set the change intervals sell either oil or engines. No engine has ever been hurt by clean oil, but plenty have been ruined by dirty oil. Pull the dipstick out of the engine and check it after 2000 miles. Rub a drop of oil between your thumb and forefinger and if it feels gritty plan on a change in the next 1000 miles.

Service lights

Well, let me just say that if you have gone 10,000 miles without servicing your brand-new Lexus, you are a LOT braver than I would ever be. I certainly do not have the gold available to pay for the possible consequeces of pulling that one off. When was the last time you even checked your engine oil level? I have seen MANY vehicles run completely out of oil between 3000 mile services and completely DESTROY the engines! 10,000 miles is REALLY taking HUGE chances!

You may have 2 separate problems...One for the oil needing service and one for a problem with your AWD system. However, Toyota and Lexus are known for disabling things like AWD, ABS, Traction Control, etc. when the engine computer detects things like low oil pressure or low oil levels. This can cause several warning lamps to all come on at the same time.

GET YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED!!! Hopefully, you will be one of the lucky ones and have not done any serious damage by not getting it serviced when you should have.

Your oil should be changed every 3000 miles (Or every 5000 miles if you are using full-synthetic oil). You should also check the oil level between services AT LEAST every 1000 miles (or more often, if you are having to add oil at 1000 miles). For a properly maintained vehicle, checking the oil level between oil changes SHOULD seem a total waste of time. However, it is the single, MOST IMPORTANT thing you can spend your time on when it comes to getting a lot of miles from your investment. If your engine starts using (burning) oil or if it starts leaking oil, you will not know about it in time to save your engine if you are not in the habit of checking it on a regular basis.

2001 Expedition - check engine light came on. Oil change on 1/27/11 not due for another 1000 miles. It just started to tremble and is running rough.

your oil change has nothing to do with your check engine light. probably needs spark plugs and a coil or 2

My change oil light came on and I just had a oil change 1000 miles ago? why is this happening?

Your oil light indicates a low level of oil in the engine.
Check the level and fill it.
Running the car with low oil can destroy the engine.
Take it back to where you had the oil changed and tell them. then plug oil pug may not be seated or the filter may not be seated.

My Service ABS< stability and traction control, engine lights all are on and engine oil shows nothing on stick about 1000 miles after oil change and when I put gas in my vehicle it takes a while before...

First, the abs/traction control light is usually attributed to the abs module not receiving a speed signal from one or more wheels.

Second, if you lose less than one quart per 1000 mi. traveled, I read that this is normal. But yours is not normal. Top off the oil with the recommended viscosity.

What could cause my engine to consume oil between oil changes, it uses about 3 quarts between oil changes.

under warranty? how many miles? what engine? what kind of driving do you do? what brand and weight of oil do you use? is all this well documented?......I think 1 qt per 800 or 1000 miles is considered normal, but I would talk to the service manager at the dealer about it. theres got to be a problem with that.
