Check gas cap and look for cracks in fuel neck. Otherwise: Obstructed, open or cracked hoses between EVAP canister purge valve and intake manifold.
Damaged EVAP canister purge valve.
Damaged PF sensor.
I'm not an expert and I have a similar problem on the 1996 Mazda extended PU w/2300 four cylinder. Same vehicle, made in ranger plant in NJ.
On the four, the purge solenoid and the purge flow sensor are located just aft (towards driver) of the battery on a vac line between the canister (next to the battery) and the intake (Just forward of the brake master cylinder.
QUESTION: Is there a pressure sensor in the fuel tank of this vehicle??????
P1443 - EVAP Control System / Vacuum System Purge Control Solenoid Or Purge Control Valve Fault. A fuel tank pressure change greater than minus (-) 7 inches of water in
30 seconds occurred with a purge (fuel vapor) flow at less than 0.02
pounds per minute.
Possible Causes:
Blocked fuel vapor hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the FTP sensor.
Blocked fuel vapor hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the engine intake manifold.
Blocked vacuum hose between the EVAP canister purge valve solenoid and the engine intake manifold.
Possible Solution: Check for blockages between the fuel tank, the EVAP canister purge
valve, and the engine intake manifold. Check for obstructions in the
EVAP canister purge valve diaphragm and ports.
The canister is on the passengers side near the firewall if I recall correctly.
trouble shoot P1443 99 ford explorer 4 liter 6 . failed evap pressure sensor. blocked hose between purge valve &fip sensor. evap purge valve stuck closed. where are these sensors and whats the fix?
P1443 = A problem with the EVAP purge flow system
Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1443 indicates an
incorrect Evaporative System Purge Control Valve flow.
Possible causes:
-- Obstructed, open or cracked hoses between EVAP canister purge valve
and intake manifold.
-- Damaged EVAP canister purge valve.
-- Damaged PF sensor.
It is usually carbon pieces from the evap carbon canister clogging the purge solenoid and purge flow sensor. There should still be a one piece purge solenoid and purge sensor with hose assembly available. You will also need to replace the carbon storage canister. After replacement disconnect the negative battery cable, hold your foot on the brake pedal for 30 seconds, then reconnect the battery.
if your obd2 scanner fits the connection you have obd2, obd1 connector is way differnt.
your code p1443 Control System Canister Purge Valve (Mechanical) Malfunction Monitors the fuel vapor flow between the engine intake manifold and the EVAP canister. The system failure occurs when a leak or blockage between the intake manifold, the EVAP canister purge valve and the EVAP canister is detected by the PCM. l Pinched, blocked or plugged fuel vapor tubes/hoses (except between fuel tank and EVAP canister) l Damaged EVAP canister l Disconnected, cracked or cut fuel vapor tubes/hoses (except between fuel tank and EVAP canister) l Damaged EVAP canister purge valve Check for audible vacuum noise in the engine compartment or significant fuel odor in the engine compartment or near the EVAP canister.
