Should be on the back side of the engine below the intake manifold. Just follow the cables from yor battery.

SOURCE: need to bypass ignition switch on nissan sentra

it should be underneath your car in between the firewall and the engine. Now you don't want to supply direct power to your starter because you'll end up frying it. However to just start the car once you've located the starter, get a long screwdriver with a plastic handle and connect the two wires with the screwdriver.

As for a long term fix, without investing the money to replace the necessary parts. You will need to attach a wire that can handle 12v to both wires on your starter separately. Then connect the other ends of both wires to a switch that can handle 12v, and mount that in your car somewhere. Then whenever you need to start your car just flip the switch on until the car starts then once it is started flip it back off.
I know this sounds like a lot but it is very doable with about $5 and a little bit of time.

SOURCE: 1996 nissan sentra

Find the big hose that comes out of the top of the radiator and follow it to the engine and that is where the thermostat is located. My advice is to be sure to get a factory thermostat and rubber gasket as it makes installation much easier. I have done it both ways and the factory one is easier to install.

Why does my 1999 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.6 not start or even turn over but will start when cold?

most likely a bad cnnection from the battery or at the starter. next time it will not turn over at all have some one tap on the starter with a hammer (or a long bar if you can't get to it with hammer) while you turn the key over.

Where is the starter on a 99 nissan sentra?

The starter on 4th generation (1995-1999) Nissan Sentras is very easy to locate and replace. It is a mostly-black cylinder, about 9 or 10" long and 3" thick, that sits on the front center of the engine. It is held on by 2 bolts, and has 2 wires connected. The 2 bolts come off easily, one of the wires simply comes unplugged easily, and the other has a small bolt holding it on.

Replacement may involve removing a bracket that holds the throttle (gas pedal) in a certain position, because there may not be enough room to work with that bracket in place. Removing and replacing that bracket (which is held onto the engine block by 2 bolts), does not affect the operation of the car.

If this is the first time the starter is having issues, replacement can be put off for a couple weeks by taking a small hammer (or something similar) and hitting the starter. Don't hit it too hard, but don't be too gentle. It might take several hits to get it to work. This is only a temporary solution. The starter WILL have to be replaced eventually.

Good luck (remember rated this post).

Car starter went out

No need to raise the vehicle. the starter is located on top of the transmission just under the air intake pipe. It is not located on the engine as most are.
