Go to this site and then click on the helpful VAGCOM locator to see if someone in your area will help you... they can plug into the car with their laptop, do the diagnostic on the check engine light for you and save you the expense of bringing it to a dealer

Throw a few bucks their way in appreciation

In my case my check engine light is on but I know why - deposits built up in the manifold area ... needs to be cleaned but it's a pain

For now I can live with it

Engine light staying on

Try tightening the gas cap. If this doesn't fix the problem you need to take it to a mechanic or dealer that can read the error code that is causing the light to stay on.

Door open light staying on, rear view interior light, and check engine light staying on

The door light and interior lights are staying on because one of your door switches needs to be replaced. The vehicle is sensing that a door is ajar and that will keep your interior lights on. This should not necessarily set the check engine light off however. I would believe that there is another issue setting off the check engine light. If there is a parts store in your area ask them if they can scan your vehicles check engine light, and if there is a charge. They will be able to retrieve a code that will explain the problem of your check engine light being on

''Check Engine Soon'' light Stays On.

Must have engine computer scanned to get codes and determine cause of check engine light. Low tire light probably needs reset. Open passenger door and remove panel on side of dash. Reset switch should be located in that compartment.
