Yes those chrysler minivans are known for bad trannys,,youll need a new one or a used trans,,,it will cost alot just to fix it,,,just replace then trans,common issue

If it starts out in 2nd gear & dosn't shift, it is probably in a limp in mode. the system will need to be diagnosed & computer satisfied. sometimes disconnecting the battery will reset the computer & allow the trans to shift untill it sees the problem again. I recomend getting the codes read first so the memory will not be erased.
Belts these days aren't as forgiving as the old V belts, when they go bad they glaze, slip, make noise etc. They may LQQk good but squeaking is first warning of belt going bad. I'd replace it for peace of mind.
Re: Trans - have you ever had trans fluid and filter changed? It's one of the most overlooked maintenance items of all time. It should be changed every 50k, 30k if you tow a trailer. The $50 you spend on a trans filter service will save you a $2000 transmission job.
yep, sounds like your transmissions on its last leg, mabye you can get by, by starting in 2nd, if you have the option lol, but auto tran's are pretty cheap on ebay or try www.supraforums.com seen one for 300$
do not flush the trans, that will make it worse.
My friend you have no second gear, you need trans rebuilt.
If you flush it now you can cause more damage.
