Sounds like your oil level is too low.
When you slow down or stop, your oil levels out and is too low for the gauge to read.
When you speed up, your oil sloshes and splashes the sensor, thus making it appear that it is circulating properly, when it actually isn't.

Is your temperature high, too?

Check the oil level on your engine oil stick and make sure it is up to or near the full line. Also make sure your battery posts are tight because when you slow down or stop a loose battery clamp especially the ground (black wire) could be shifting and as you drive.

While going down highway (at) 70 mph, why did car just turn off?

Low oil would not show up on the engine computer, but low oil pressure would. If the oil light did not come on before the engine stopped, its possible you toasted the engine.

2005 dodge stratus cruise does not work but light comes on.

first check to see if brake lights work, because brake light switch will deactivate cruis control when you press brake pedal to slow down stop.if brake light switch okay, dealership has to check out cruise control since pcm and vechicle speed sensor control the cruise control also.

I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus, When I come to a stop, the oil tight comes on but, when I take my foot off the breaks and asccelerate ( or put any gas to it) the light goes out. PLEASE HELP!

You are developing low oil pressure at idle this is a common problem with Dodge stratus. If you fail to have it fix you will definetly loose the timing chain and the whole enginecansmo_198.gif

Car promblem

Sounds like your oil ran low and the pistons and rods are runnig without oil. This will seize the engine check your oil if it is real low put some oil in it and try to start it. If it starts you got lucky. Tahn find out how you lost all your oil before runnig it to much. If the engine doen't turn over than your motor is no good.

2004 dodge stratus oil light started coming on when I slowed down or cam to a stop and then would turn off when I started driving again. Now it stays on al the time

You need to have that chk'd out. Even low oil pressure can damage the engine let alone no oil pressure. Ck your oil level. It is a serious issue to have that light on. Good Luck, _Ned_

I was driving down the highway and had to slow down for a vehicle in front of me. When I went to step on the gas to speed up again, there was no power at all and the car came to a stop. It will not run at...

I had a similar problem once with my '04 Stratus. I was pulling out of my subdivision and stopped at the intersection and all of a sudden the car just stopped...completely shut down. I knew it wasn't out of gas because I filled up the night before. It wasn't the battery because all the electrical equipment worked. Come to find out, my timing belt had snapped. So, if it won't even start, that may be your problem because the timing belt is what makes the engine turn over. If the timing belt is snapped, there's nothing to turn the crankshaft to move the pistons, etc., etc. You should get a mechanic to look at it to find out for sure, but that's what it sounds like to me. Hope that helps.
