My car starts but it does not stay running if i put my leg on the gas it dies

I would check for proper fuel pressure. Sounds like your pump might be on its way out. For a TBI engine you should have around 10PSI at the throttle body.

Johnny, here's something I want you to try. I want you to start the engine while giving it a little gas, not much, just enough to see if it will idle. If it does Idle and stays running with your foot on the gas and dies when you remove your foot. Then go and buy an 'IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR" It mounts on the throttle body. Put that on, there are only two screws that holds it on, very easy to replace. After installing it the idle will be real high, this is normal, just wait it will stabilize and idle normal. NOTE: if it still dies even with your foot on the gas, then you have another issue but this is a good place to start. Possibly a fuel supply issue. Will require a fuel pressure tester. Could be in tank pump or a bad fuel pump relay. In a quiet environment, turn key on (not start position ) and listen if you can hear the guel pump run for 1 or 2 seconds.

i had that problem with my car but i had a key with a chip in it and one with no chip. i kept using the one with no chip and my car was dieing. as soon as i used the one with a chip in it my car started right up and stayed running.

Turn off all your accesories and turn the key forward, but dont start it. You should hear the pump kick on for 2-3 seconds. Prime the system a few times then start it. This will narrow your diagnosis

it sounds like the accellerator pump on the front of the carb. Rebuild the carb. good luck Jeff

try turning the idle screw counterclockwise. #5 in the pic below.

it is happen when the fuel pressure detect thev insufficient fuel pressures, turn off engine while filling.
