As I was driving down the road, all at once 4 warning lights came on my dash at once (Check Engine Soon, Service Engine Soon, ABS, & Trac Off Indicators). What could be wrong, the car still ran fine...

It's most likely going to be the wheel speed sensor which is located at the wheel bearing. when they become disconnected or the wire breaks your abs and traction light will come on and something your check engine light.

2001 pontiac grand prix with speedometer intermittently inoperative.

Hello! It sounds as if you have a wheel speed sensor that is failing. The wheel speed sensor calculates the wheel/tire revolutions and sends this information to the speedometer, which then displays that information as MPH/KPH. On 97-06 Grand Prix's this and the ABS sensor are the same module, and in order to replace, you must replace the entire hub assembly. Here is a view of the hub assembly from the back side of the hub/wheel assembly. You may want to inspect the sensor wires for any fraying, loose connections, etc.

How do i change wheel speed sensor on a 2001 pontiac grand am se

well if it is the front wheel speed sensor it is part of the hub bearing and that hub unit will have to be replaced as one unit.

first raise the vechile and support it with jack stands. remove the wheel that has the bad wheel speed sensor.

then remove the brake caliper and mounting bracket.

remove the brake rotor.

remove the axle nut from axle.

unplug wheel speed sensor wire harness and bracket.

un bolt the three 15mm bolts on the back side of the spindle for the hub bearing unit mounting.

after everything is un bolted you will need to soak the mating surface of the hub to spindle with wd-40.

take a hammer and cold chisel between the mating surface of hub and spindle. work your self around the mating surface of the hub.

depending how corroded it is the sensor part of the hub unit may stay stuck in the spindle and if that happens use hammer and chisel to remove it.

clean the inner surface of the spindle where the hub sits and re install in the reverse procedure.

if you have any more question please ask i will be glad to help. good luck

Abs light, trac light, service engine soon light 2001 Pontiac Grand Am

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.
