follow this link for a bit of advice , i'd also remove the coil pack for the rear plugs , making sure you mark the HT leads , dont want them mixed up 3 5 V6 G6 pontiac spark plugs locations
For the 3 spark plugs in front:
1. You would have to remove the plastic protective cover (this cover is silver&red w/ the words "nissan and v6 3000")
2. unplug connector and remove coil (DO NOT mix up the coils, keep the same coils on the same cylinder)
3. Remove spark plug
Rear 3 plugs: located on the rear of the intake (the black pipes atop the engine). there are 3 openings at the rear of the black intake pipes, each opening has a coil mounted.
1. Unplug coil connector and remove coil
2. remove spark plug (you'll need a long extension)
***Installation is reverse, be sure not to over tighten the plugs!! Use anti-seize compound on all the new plugs threading. Hopefully this helps!!
You didn't specify whether you have the (4) cylinder or the (6) cylinder engine.....
I have a 2004 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L 4 cylinder and I just changed the spark plugs in it. I believe that the 2005 2.4L engine is the same.
To locate and change the (4) spark plugs on a 2004 Hyundai 2.4L 4 cylinder engine:
Remove the (4) 12mm bolts from the decorative plastic engine cover. Remove plastic cover from engine and place it off to the side out of your way.
Standing in front of the car, the (4) spark plugs are located laterally (left to right) in the recessed area underneath where the plastic engine cover was removed.
Note: This engine has (2) coils....They are located above spark plugs number (2) and (3) from left to right.
Starting with the fist spark plug on the left: Remove the spark plug cable by pulling straight up on the insulated connector. Using a spark plug socket, remove the old spark plug and install a new one in it's place.
To access the second spark plug from the left, remove the electrical connector and the spark plug cable wire from coil number (1) and then remove the (2) 12mm bolts that secure the coil to the engine. Spark plug number (2) is located directly under the coil. Lift the coil straight up removing the insulated connector from spark plug number (2). Using a spark plug socket, remove old spark and install a new one in it's place.
Repeat same procedures for spark plugs number (3) and (4).
Note: If you have the (6) cylinder engine, the front (3) sparks pluge are readilly accessible but in order to access the (3) rear spark plugs, you will have to remove the intake manifold
there is a special tool for this job but I have cheated on this but you ned to be careful when doing this. The wishbone shaped mount on the front going from motor to front of vehicle, remove and it allows the motor to tilt.
follow the spark plug wires up to the coil pack there is only one coil pack for your truck which has all the plug wires going to it.also replace your your plug wires.
I just changed the rear spark plugs on my 1997 Chrysler Town & Country this weekend. It took me about 7 hours to do everything. When you replace the rear spark plugs, its a good item to replace everything i have listed below. Listed below are the items i changed while i was in there:
Valve Cover Gaskets All 6 sparks (the rear are the hardest) I used the Bosch Plat. +4 Intake manifold gasket (only cost $3-4) Throttle body gasket. Air filter Spark Plug Wires
I also bought some throttle body cleaner and sprayed the throttle body to clean it out. When the throttle body is dirty your van can stall. I took pictures of everything i took apart, which i can email you to help you out.
