2003 dodge stratus,4 cylinder dohc, runs fine up to 2400 rpms then studdards. If you back off and keep the rpms under 2400 it runs fine. Light comes on & it does it, next day the light may go out and it runs fine. Code reader shows code PO344, changed the camshaft censor, still same problem.Sometimes it runs fine for days.

Hello Joe Romero, I would like to help you, if you haven't already been helped...first I need to know a bit more on your Stratus...particularly the engine...there are three diffferent : 4 Cylinders C 2.0L MFI, 4 Cylinders X 2.4L SFI DOHC, 6 Cylinders H 2.5L MFI. I'm thinking you have the 6 Cylinder engine since you mentioned distributor...unfortunately, distributor assembly must be replaced in that particular situation.
The Stratus 2.4L engine uses what is called "a wasted spark" ignition system, that feeds two cylinders with the same ignition coil. Havind a pair of Cylinders dead means one of the coils or the module is inoperative. Amclaussen.
For the 1996 Dodge Stratus: I do not know if you have the 2.0L SOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder, or the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder or the 2.5L SOHC V6; however I have included all three below...
For the 2.0L SOHC AND 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder: Firing Order: 1-3-4-2 Cylinders: ..........(back)......... |...1....2....3....4...| .........(front) Ignition Coil: .....................o <---4 1---> o .....................O <---Connector 2---> o .....................o <---3
