You've figured out by now the blinking light means the system has a problem. You'll need to find out if the system is low on freon or if a relay or electrical part is failing. The cooling fan could also be failing to come on, which would make the high side pressure exceed the limit and shut down the system.
Sounds like a bad blower motor resistor. Since high speed bypasses the resistor and the lower speeds use the resistor and don't work, the resistor is the most logical answer.
It is usually mounted near the blower motor under the passenger side of the dash.
If you were low on freon before, It's possible you have a leak in your system. If you take it back, have them check for the leak before they let you drive off with another freon loss.
