HI..
On a problem with oil pressure sensor leaking.
99% you need to replace the sensor with a new one.
Because if you can see the leak is not for the tread or gasket of the sensor.
If you can disconnect the the wire from the sensor.
and try to start you will see the leak coming from inside on the plastic, where the pins. of the sensor.

OK.. I hope this information work for you.
I work on Cars everyday.
Thank you fo use fixya.

SOURCE: Volvo 850 oil pressure sending unit

It's on the engine, right next to the starter, it has one wire going to it. You don't need to drain the oil. If the light is coming on, you may have bad seals in the oil pan, a fairly common problem, but replacing the switch is a good fisrt step.

SOURCE: Exactly where is oil pressure sending unit located

if you have the 5.2 V8 its located in the rear of the engine near the dist cap area you can see it if you look in that area , if 4.0 6 cyl its located on the side of the engine block near the oil filter area. It has two wires going to it and screws into the block. It's made mainly of plastic and if broken can allow oil under pressure to spew out and give you thoughts of a blown rear main seal due to the amount of oil all over the underside.

SOURCE: where is the oil pressure sending unit on 2001

For 4.0 engine, it is between the oil filter and the firewall. Sometime it could be hidden behind the harness there. So, move the harness and you will see it.

Why does my check gage light come on when i come to a stop

Well the check gauge light is telling you to check your gauges, because of the low oil pressure. It could be a sending unit problem, or the oil pressure really could be dangerously low. Should be at least 25psi at idle.

Where do I find oil sending unit on a 2001 BMW 740il E 38.. My oil pressure i reading low pressure. But its full of oil..

Full oil does not mean that you have oil pressure.
The sending unit is located right by the oil filter mount.
It is very possible that you have a bad sending unit, gauge, or actually do have low oil pressure...best to have pressure checked by a good mechanic

Oil pressure unit on a 2001 dodge dakota v8 4.7 replaced the oil pressure unit and the oil gauge is still reading low oil in the motor is high with the dip stick. Tried to reset the sensor by disconnecting...

Your talking about low oil pressure, not level, correct? Hope you can read diagram. The top wire, oil pressure sensor should be voltage and bottom wire is ground. Use digital multimeter on low voltage setting to check. The sensor sends signal to pcm, on the right in diagram, the dashed lines. Then the pcm sends data to instrument cluster on buss circuit.
I agree with other person, it could be low oil pressure and everything else is working correctly.

2001 hyundai xg300 oil light comes on

Did you check your oil? If it is low you need to add some.

Check oil light could mean either low oil volume (low on oil) or your oil sending unit is not pumping oil or that you have some much gunk build up that your oil ports have clogged up.

OIL LIGHT GOES OUT AT 1000RPM OTHER WISE ITS ON 1 CHANGED OIL TWICE 2 RPL OIL SENDING UNIT 3 PERFORMED MOTOR FLUSH

I think you should have an accurate mechanical oil pressure test gauge installed in place of the oil sending unit and check to see what the actual oil pressure is. If it's 15 psi or so at an idle and about 35 psi or higher at 2500 rpm then your pressure is good and means you have some sort of issue between the sending unit and gauge. If the pressure is low, say below 10 or 5 psi at an idle with a warm engine and doesn't improve much at higher speeds then you actually do have low oil pressure, most likely due to worn bearings inside the engine. An accurate test gauge should tell the tale and help you figure out what is wrong. Hope this helps out a bit!
