The early models had the fuel filter mounted in the engine bay against the firewall. follow the fuel lines from the motor to the firewall. if there is no filter there then it is the late model and the filter is part of the fuel sender unit, this is mounted in the fuel tank and includes the fuel pump. this type is difficult to replace, and sometimes requires replacment of the entire sender unit.
Best way to tell is to call a nissan spare parts dept witn you VIN number and ask if this filter is replacable.
