SOURCE: will 1999 subaru engine fit in 1997 subaru legacy?

Yes as long as the Motors are the same. You might need to have the computer out of doner car. Doors are suppose to fit 96 to 99.

Did you want the torque converter mounting bolt torque? If so, it is 17 to 19 foot pounds.

SOURCE: i have a 99 subaru

sure. 2.5 liter engine, right? Thanks for using FixYa!

Secure the head in place with the mounting bolts. Coat each bolts with clean engine oil, and hand-tighten. Tighten the cylinder head bolts to the following specifications:

  1. Step 1: all bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (29 Nm).
  2. Step 2: all bolts to 51 ft. lbs. (69 Nm).
  3. Step 3: loosen all bolts by 180 degrees, then loosen an additional 180 degrees.
  4. Step 4: bolts 1 and 2 to 25 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  5. Step 5: bolts 3, 4, 5 and 6 to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  6. Step 6: all bolts plus 80-90 degrees.
  7. Step 7: All bolts plus 80-90 degrees.

SOURCE: I have subaru b4 legacy

hi i would invest in an electronic boost controller, they remove the dead spot in the revs before the big turbo winds in, they are worth a few hundred dollars but are well worth the money. You also have the option of turning up the boost safely a few psi with these but you will love the difference without the dead spot it will seem like a new car to drive. If you do that and want more still i would get a turbo upgrade, ecu upgrade, fuel pump upgrade etc do all that you can before going with the expensive motor rebuild

1996 subaru legacy wagon 2.2 AWD leaking tranny fluid out of bell housing. Transmission lines not leaking. Assume it's coming off of the shaft on the torque converter. What seals could be leaking? & can...

I'm not sure about what gasket to check, but I've always left my manual tranny's connected to the transaxles and removed the axles at the transaxle. This made simpler by popping the ball joints out, thus allowing the hub assembly to swing away. Hope this helps.

2005 Subaru Legacy GT

I suggest you to have a ELM327 OBD2 with bluetooth connection (around 10-25$ on internet stores) + torque app to your phone. cheap and works just fine for checking engine error codes, and resetting malfunction lights. I think you were lucky to find correct answer on the internet, because without any further inspection they all are nothing else but lucky guesses. (and changing different sensors randomly based on guesses willcome very expensive.) If you watch this video it explain why in situation like you have is hard find correct answer to a specific problem.

For a 1999 Subaru Legacy does it have just the screw on transmission filter or is there also one in the pan?

I have a 99 Subaru Legacy Outback wagon also. I just changed my fluid & filters. There is a spin-on AND a bolt-in that's inside (you have to drop the pan).

I need to find out the drive shaft torque settings for my 96 subaru legacy.

The manual reads 39-46 ft. lbs.
That's for the general subaru legacy.
I would need the motor size to be EXACT, but these numbers are most common
