I had the same problem and once I wiggled the shifter enough to get it out of park then the key stuck in the ignition started.

When the car is in park, push the shifter firmly up past park and keys will come out. This is a very common problem with GM vehicles. The pins wear out easily

sounds like the lock for it broke either from the button on the shifter or from the pedal its only plastic i would take the shifter cover off and try it then and look at all the peices too see what is not working
SOURCE: dead battery
It could be a defective ignition switch as well (it has a disabling circuit) thinking the vehicle is stolen. The dealer has the equipment to see if is throwing a code for that.
