Refurbished CV shaft on 07 Pontiac G6 looks like its not all the way in, about 1/4 inch more to go. The lock ring/clip looks fine. Is the clip supposed to be loose around the shaft ?

Yes that ring has to move. Did you compare the shaft against the one you removed? Did you look into the hole to make sure nothing was in there like the old lock ring. If you think the lock ring is holding you back take it off the shaft and squeeze it together then reinstall. I hope this helps, Take care.

Did you look into the transmission to make sure something isn't blocking the axle from seating? If OK I would try another axle.

Locking clip suppose to be fairly loose, but if it's too loose it will not go all the way in to lock the axle in place, so you have to help it to slide in place.

SOURCE: 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP window auto close/open

OMG. I replaced the battery in my 06 G6 and had the same problem. the windows would not roll up or down how they did before. I read the answers on here and it does work. Hold up the window switch for ten seconds and it resets. You will have to do it to each window. Worked great. Thanks

MOST AXLES WILL LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR. THEY COST ABOUT $200 EACH TO REPLACE IN OUR SHOP. YOU CAN BUY REBUILT ONES FOR MOST AUTO STORES FOR $50-$75. EACH THANKS MOTOR62500!

SOURCE: what is the button looks like a primer button called on the radiator of a 07 pontiac g6

The "primer button" is a hard clear plastic, on the side of the radiator? This is a window so you can see level and circulation.

I have recently replaced the cv shafts on my 2005 Pontiac g6 and it keeps kicking them back out when I stop

Never worked on this car to be honest but if the drive shafts are coming away from the gearbox end then i would look at the end of the shafts where they enter the diff as it could be that you havent fitted the circlips that hold the shaft in ?

Stuck CV rod and tripod in transmission

there is a roll pin hold ing the cv shaft to the drive shaft, has to be tapped through, the cv joint is usually held to shaft by a cir-clip that needs 'opening out' and the cv joint will come off.your second query should be helped by doing this first procedure ,then there should be a metal ring bolted to the trans housing that holds that end of shaft in place ,this is placed OVER the rubber dif boot so you may not have seen it as old boot has come away ,do as 2 seperate operations much easier

Pontiac G6 : Ready to pull the CV joint - seems hard to pull out - like it is stuck. Any ideas?

it is not stuck, there is a spring clip inside the transmission holding it, put a pipe wrench on the part closest to the transmission and tap the pipe wrench, it will pop out.

How do you change a cv joint on a 04 kia optima

The CV joints snap ring usually pop when you strike the joint squarely with a hammer. take care not to pop the shaft . If you clean the back of the CV joint you will see if it is a snap ring or a horseshoe type clip (that has to be compressed) either way you strike the CV joint from behind.

I HAVE A 2006 PONTIAC G6 DRIVE SHAFT ISSUE?

It's most likely the CV joints on the car, but they shouldn't go this early as they usually last at least 5-10 years.
I would assume your car is still under warranty and they just don't want to have to pay out of their own pockets to have it serviced.
