08 dodge 1500 hemi 5.7 Truck threw code P0301 which is the first cylinder . I bought the truck with 53,000 and now has 83 and i dont know if plugs have ever been changed . Pulled the plugs and both plugs in the number one cylinder looked like they were hit , there was hardly and gap at all. Pulled all 16 plugs and the rest were ok . Pulled the valve covers and did compression test and all cylinders are good on compression. Valve springs were also good none broke. Put eveything back together , fired up truck and now the Eletronic throttle control is on and when u hit the gas pedal no response . I believe there is a way to reset or reboot the computer ?

What is the condition of the yoke part. Is it still functional? Try getting one on eBay, like this part:

Check engine compression and compare. then test running engine compression most engines have about 130-170 cranking compression and about 90-110 running compression. OR bring that cylinder to its Top Dead Center compression stroke apply air to the cylinder and check to see where the air is going open throttle plate bad intake valve, from exhaust pipe bad exhaust valve, from oil cap piston rings.

P0300 is the random misfire code. P0301 is the misfire code for Cylinder #1. When was your last tune up? non platinum spark plugs should be replaced around 30-60k along with the wires. With platinum plugs that extends out to 100k. I would try a tune up first plugs and wires. Reasonably cheap fix that is a prevenitive maintenace item anyways. If you have just recently had a tune up or it does not solve your problem you most likely have a bad coil pack on cylinder#1.

For ALL 2004 Dodge RAM (1500, 2500, and 3500) (2WD and 4WD) 5.7L V8 Hemi:

This should have been located at the top of the your Intake Manifold.

I also have an '03 Ram 1500 with the Hemi, and I too noticed that the throttle system definitely sucks. The issue lies with Chrysler opting for speed density instead of mass air flow, which is what the Hemi should have. I landed an a chatroom that had a procedure to try to fix the throttle response. Simple procedure.
1. turn the Ram on, but don't start.
2. wait 7 -10 seconds for onboard diagnostics to cycle and finish.
3. press the accelerater to the floor, using moderate leg speed and then let up.
4. shut Ram off, wait 10 seconds.
5. start up

After using this procedure, my Ram finally accelerated like a Hemi Ram should. The chatroom said that for some reason, this won't work on every Hemi Ram, but since you don't hook up into the computer, it's worth a shot.

First step is to check the plugs; hearing a lot online about this being a fuel injector problem. You can try injector cleaner, check the plugs and wires (clear the code) and see if this clears your problem.
If not, it's likely fuel injector(s) is bad.
