It sounds like you should check for power at brake pedal switch. Hook up a test light to the switch and press the brake pedal. If the light does not go on and you have power in the wires to the switch then the switch should be replaced.

Were the fuses blown. If not it's the probably the bulb. If the fuses were blown check now to see if the new ones have blown again. If they have then their is a short in the wire. Let me know how far you have gone with the repair so I can direct you further.

Yep through the dimmer switch itself. The dimmer switch is either bad or the pigatail to the dimmer switch is bad.
