Replaced ecm ???? Who replaced ecm ??? Was it programmed ? Did you diagnose before replacement or just guess . By still will not crank i assume you mean when you turn the key to start nothing happens .
Testimonial: "My husband replaced it, yes it was diagnosed. Yes it was programmed to the VIN of my car"
So , you didn't answer my other question , when you turn the key to start ,does the starter engage an spin the engine ? Also who programmed it ? Dealer or where the PCM came from ?
If the PCM was programmed from the remanufacturer , it still needs to go to the dealer an have ant-theft system ,transponder keys programmed
when starting the engine it just clicks. Where the ecm purchased from programmed it to my VIN.

I don't know what testing you did before replacing anything? Usually if it cranks good but won't start, make sure battery has a full charge, have helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. Use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse.
If the starter motor won't crank the engine, check starter motor wiring circuits. When testing at the starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.
I believe the new computer would have to be programmed before it will work? Was it programmed?

SOURCE: Can someone tell me what that whining noise I hear
Can't really do better than a guess ...noises I can't hear aren't my specialty. It could be the bearing in the front of the alternator...when you first start up the alternator is loaded, as it puts power back to the battery that you just used when starting. You hear it more in the AM because you are standing still, the engine is cold and needs more power to start than when warmed up, and the battery has lost some power keeping clock etc going all night. During daytimnes starts the length of timne it needs to do this is shorter and requires less demand. (long explanation for a guess!!!) Either way should not be anything horrible! Trans may also be low on fluid.
good luck

Similar to obtaining an owner's manual, you can obtain a repair manual from the same sources identified in this handy, diagnostic article:

This should defintely help

SOURCE: cadillac cts cranks but won't start
My 2003 CTS would not start on the first, second or third try after filling the gas tank. Finally after several months of this occuring every two weeks a check engine light came on. It was the evac purge valve. Tom

I do not mean to be hurtful and it will take some time to do. Maybe all day if you have no experience. If you need instructions just maybe you should have some do it for you.
