MY 89 cutlass ciera is having problems running and starting. It starts better than it runs. Will run 3 mins tops but not consistently. (runs a few sec or longer but struggles doing so)

I know this might be obvious but the obvious is often the problem. Did you replace the coil wire that goes from your coil to the distributor cap? Also, double check to be sure that your wires are connected in the correct order. A little more clarification might help. Does it turn over? Does it just click? When you turn the ignition key then let off does the car clunk or make a wheezing sound?

The problem may be with the distributor try to find a cheap used one at a junk yard, the same thing happened to my dads 1990 ramcharger

u either have a defective crankshaft position sensor or a defective ignition module.

Check the prrimary and secondary resistance on your coil. Also check the resistance of the plug wires and plug gap.
